Digital microscopes are cheap these days. So I got me one since i am thinking about hair transplant.
But I found yellow dots in the thinning area. And apparently there is a recent study on that:

Yellow dots in trichoscopy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5674712/

I wonder whether the causation goes from hair thinning => engulfed sebaceous glands (as the paper seems to be suggesting) or it is the other way.
I attached a picture of the healthy donor area (no dots) and two of the thinning area. I need to shave the latter for better view.

It's interesting, for sure. I don't have a microscope but I can achieve amazing zoom with a camera I have here. No redness, no yellow area, no dandruff. Just pale scalp where my hair is thinning or the folicles are empty. Maybe it's just low bloodflow in the area.

Here is my density per 0.2cm^2 in the healthy donor area (not yellow dots there). Just multiply by 5 to get FU/cm2. I am on the low end I think. From 60 (lowest) to 100. But the 100 is right below my safe zone.
