Around 7 years ago, I started noticing hair loss and began researching solutions. I eventually got a prescription for finasteride and took it over the course of a year but was still losing ground. Hair is one of the most important things to me so out of desperation I decided to go the nuclear route. It was around 6 years ago I decided to hop on androcur (12-25mg), 2.5mg dutasteride and e (2mg) per day. I saw pretty good regrowth for the first year and maintained my density and hairline fairly well until recently.

About a year ago, I decided I wanted to slowly taper off androcur and e to see if 2.5mg dutasteride could maintain my hair. About 3 months in to tapering off the drugs, I noticed my hairline was beginning to slightly thin and recede in the corners, so I panicked and got back on e. However, every month I'd notice my hairline would continue to slowly recede with just dutasteride + e (no androcur).

I got blood tests done recently and my testosterone was at around 740 so I decided to get back on androcur. Within a day, I noticed an immediate shed so I panicked and stopped. It's been a little over a week and my hair is continuing to shed and recede. Am I screwed? I thought getting back on androcur would help but it seems like its only making things worse. Anyone else have experience with this or can give me any insight?

So you won't get a shed in a day because you went back on androcur. Are you back on androcur or off I am a little confused? The drugs you are taking slows down the hair loss process but it usually continues. Get back on what was working and the shed should stop. Usually you get a shed when you stop something like rogaine but in your case it looks like androcur was working.

Yes, I went on it for around 4 days after not being on it for over a year. On day 2 I noticed a big increasing in shedding. I never shed long healthy hairs and tiny short hairs before but saw them coming out right after I started. Before the androcur I maybe shed 5-10 hairs max applying minoxidil. But 1 day after using androcur I started getting scalp pain, significant increase in shedding and greasy hair. This was weird to me because the first time I ever went on androcur my shedding went to almost 0 hairs pretty much immediately.

Shedding dont mean anything. I shedded like a few hairs a day and still kept balding.
