I have always considered min. It has been my backup for years and my safety net if i ever need it or if finasteride doesn’t work anymore.

Until i heard min can rapidly age your face and cause wrinkles

that one thing has made it so I never want to add min in my mix which sucks because finasteride is so nice. Especially considering you can get 10% min with extra stuff in it for extra effect :(

It’s not “aging”, you WILL get some
Type of fluid retention in your face. I am taking a break from minoxidil for a week and I’m going to restart, but this stuff orally just killed me. I’ve posted a pic in another thread. The eye bags are what will make you look “old”.

use spironolactone or another diuretic while you’re on it. I tried, but it didn’t help me. Also, both min and furosemide killed my energy

Nope ,no facial aging at all. My skin for the most part looks great even while on oral min.

I've had facial aging because I've been using it on and off for 6 years, but because of min probably not.

Everyone is different. You really won’t know until you try. I was using minoxidil sulfate orally. My eyes got so bad that I started to get burning feelings around my sinuses under my eyes. My hair grew VERY well on it, but my hairline itch never stopped, nor did my hairline stop receding. That’s just me.

won’t know until you pull the trigger

Well it looks like 80% of people on it have bad results...

Familiar issue. Severe dark circles but no under eye bags etc. The issue have been improved on 10 mg isotretinoin (Accutane) so far. The skin under my eyes seems to get thicker and dark circles clearly less visible - all things being equal. Expect further progress after a year on Accutane.

Is your reasoning for being on accutane so that you can help your eyes? Accutane causes hairloss I’m almost everyone who uses it..

Initially I was also very concerned about it. I started reading on the Q. Well, you can find info that minoxidil causes hair thinning as well - you probably know why. The same for finasteride....
1) Note, some formulations of minoxidil contain retinoids to control sebum etc - to allow minoxidil better get into your scalp.
2) Clogged hair shafts and abnormally grown oil glands is a problem (caused by sensitivity to DHT) preventing hair regrowth. I used to have oily scalp especially in temples and crown zones - nothing like in my donor zone. My assumption was that I need to achieve a scalp condition similar to my donor zone (very smooth, non-oily, open hair shafts etc). Only after my scalp quality became the same as in my donor area I started to see temples regrowth.
I should say before adding Accutane (low dose just 10 mg) I used high-dose zinc sulphate and many other approaches.
My point is that retinoids are beneficial for hair loss under certain conditions and in combo with other treatments.

3) The third reason for Accutane are dark circles that have substantially improved.

I’ve debated the same thing in my head that you are doing now. My hairloss started when my corners got itchy and oily and seb derm took over.. who even prescribed you accutane? I thought they too that drug off the market, no?

topical retinoids in a minoxidil formulation aren’t the same as accutane orally... but I know what you mean. How ling have you been trying out accutane for?

In the USA FDA is watching you... sometimes with excessive precautions... I've heard about cases when people blamed Accutane for causing suicide & many other things .... still it is one of the most important anti-aging drugs that greatly reduces the risk of skin cancer as a bonus
There're plenty of manufacturers in Europe; I use isotretinoin called 'Roaccutane' by Roche (Switzerland), which I purchase in Moscow without any prescription. Simply go to the chemist's and purchase what you want - e.g. Avodart over the counter. The regulations in Russia are not so strict and prices for numerous brand-name drugs are substantially lower (a manufacturer sets different marketing prices for different markets).

----- I started with a topical retinoid but their side effects are too irritating for me (reddish itchy skin etc). An oral drug is much better tolerated in my case.

I'm in my fourth month. It may seem too little time to see results on so low dose 10 mg, but this is my case.
I mean results concerning dark circles cause by minoxidil. Oily scalp and face T-zone disappeared 1-2 weeks after initiation. Sebum clogs bumps came out of my temples scalp zone, then I saw clear and wider hair shafts (+ emergent dark hairs later).

Even on this dose during the first weeks I suffered from very dry cracking lips, dry eyes (compensated with moisturises for lips and eyes) ----- this gradually subsided. Side effects of topical retinoids were far worse in my case.

Ohhhh ok I thought you were in the U.S. I actually used to buy dutasteride from someone in another country because they didn’t need a prescription haha. I have the powder now so that’s solved lol.

I’m not one of those, “you are going to cause more damage! That drug is going to kill you”, kind of people. The theory of using acctane makes more sense than even using dutasteride or finasteride. My hairloss only started when my sebum became over driven. Yes, androgens cause this, but even on high doses of dutasteride and even while trialing spironolactone and cypro, I still had oily itchy corners of my hairline and still shed hair with sebum plugs attached..

accutane takes care of sebum, this mitigating seb derm and other related conditions of inflamed skin/follicles. So yeah man, I see how it can help you. A buddy of mine had cystic acne in high school and while he was on accutane his hair was INSANELY thick. Now he’s back to seb derm issues just like me and losing his hair.

Just watch out and even if you can find a lower dose other than 10mg, do it. I’ve read studies around taking 20-25mg still causing hair thinning. You won’t see it right away due to the actual cycles of your hair.

Goodluck dude, I hope it works out. I wish I had the balls to go on accutane haha. At least with minoxidil, your hair is sort of protected from a different angle.
