I'm 25. Confused as to what # I am on the Norwood Scale.

Hi,

I am 25 and wondering where I fall on the Norwood scale. I seem to have "diffuse thinning" on top with more pronounced hair loss towards the crown.

I have been using Rogaine for 3 months now but have seen more shedding than anything else. Trying to decide if I should get a hair transplant or add Propecia.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
FMG

It is hard to tell. You have a hairline of a NW2A maybe, and the crown of an NW5.

Add finasteride 1mg [Finpecia] or 1.25mg [cut 5mg into 1/4ths] a day. It should work well combined with Rogaine twice a day.

Only thing that will stop/slow your hair loss is dht blocker, get on one asap if you want to keep your hair. Currently you're a Norwood 3ish but you're hair loss pattern (which is what the norwood scale actually measures) is Norwood 5/6.

Looks like you need finasteride (propecia, proscar, finpecia etc). Hair grows in cycles, Rogaine will grow hair in inactive hair follicles, meaning more hair, but it won't stop the hair loss process. finasteride will actually halt your hair loss by working against the DHT hormones in your body. Check the start guide for more info!

I reckon if you both of those asap you've got a good chance of having a nice head of hair. Your hairline's in the NW2 area, and Rogaine is designed to help with hair loss at the crown, but you need the two together. I'd leave hair transplants as a last resort, you don't need one yet. Good luck!
