Well its been a month on Propecia...and i've decided to give it up. I used to be a horny goat, and now its a major production to get my boy to do anything. I'm lethargic and my memory has gone to sh*t...either way, this just isn't for me. I know i should give it more time, but it just doesn't feel right to do this to my body. Its topicals here on in, and most likely baldness. But at least i'll be able to jerk off. :) Best of luck to all...

have u tried lowering the dosage yet? 0.25mg of finasteride is still pretty effective on hairloss.

male pattern baldness,

No i haven't tried lowering the dosage...i was thinking about doing that. I'm having trouble with the idea of being on a drug for an extended period of time, even though i'm on minoxidil right now as well. Is the .25g dose %80 as effective, i thought i read that somewhere? I may give that a try for a month...i'm really torn right now :?

Besides lowering the dosage to .5 or less, I have seen many people post threads indicating that their sides went away with time. If your still serious about fighting your hairloss, you may want to give it more time. Otherwise, best luck and maybe you will decide to pick it up again with due time.

Libido and erection strength fluctuates a great deal anyway, give it more time and make sure it's not unrelated or just in your head.

Definitely not in my head...my libido died the day after i took my first pill and hasn't returned in 30 days. Since puberty i've always had a high sex drive, i'm 31 now. Of course, on the positive side, my scalp feels great, that DHT itch is gone, and i'm seeing some tiny hairs coming in on the "island", probably the minoxidil though this early in...I'm not bitter about being that lucky 1 out of 50 guys, but DAMN!!!

If it started the day after you took the first pill it could certainly be in your head. Of course even if it were then you should still go off it, some people have the attitude to psychosomatic effects that just because it has no chemical basis you can just turn it off, when in reality a psychosomatic disorder will often stay with people even when they know full well that it's psychosomatic. Human beings don't have that degree of control over their own brains unfortunately.

i have to agree with the above, libido changes the very next day after your first dose of finasteride doesnt sound likely to be caused by the drug itself. more likely your brain.

in the first month on dutasteride my libido was all over the place, up and down. but it settled soon enough back to normal.

Well arguing about whether its in my head or not won't make me any harder, lol...I think i'll try .25 for a month, if no change, then I'll quit. It was that damn post about askthedoctor.com (i won't repost and scare anyone else), and all those side affects that freaked me out about finasteride...read it just before i posted. Thanks for the feedback guys...hopefully things will perk up and i can stay with it :p

I have better libido right now than before getting on finasteride. Weird. Not that I can brag about my libido, sometimes I don't feel in the mood but...you know...

wow, .25 can be effective?

I recently quit finasteride about 2 weeks ago (I had been on 5 months) due to weakened sensitivity in my boy, often painful or itchy urethra after ejaculation, feeling generally like sh*t, and in a fog day in and day out....I feel great since I stopped...but I'm noticing a lot of stray hairs again....I like how my hair is right now and I'd just love to keep it all for as long as I can...so then I got thinking:

I've been on 1mg daily, but I only weigh about 130lbs.... so I was thinking maybe the 1mg was a little too much and I'd try .5 for a while and see if i could handle things a little better.... but hell, If I could even cut it to .25 and still be effective it's a no brainer, I'd be saving a sh*t ton of money and hopefully minimum minimum minimum effects.

Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Yeah, I always wondered why medications aren't given PER POUND or per kilogram of bodyweight. I mean, common sense dictates that drugs obviously wouldn't dose the same for a 350 pound tackle than a 100 pound horse jockey who races in the kentucky derby.

I guess it makes sense to adjust dosage to bodyweight, but its rarely addressed.

Well after doing a double-take in the shower yesterday, and rechecking again today, i noticed my testicles are WAY smaller...this stuff is obviusly f*****g with my system in a major way. Anyone want to buy 29 of Merck's finest?

Generally, they are in a hospital setting. Doctors just get too lazy to do it in a clinic and people end up suffering because of it.

In the clinic, it's just assumed that there is a pediatric and an adult dose. Side effects are the only thing that gives doctors a hint that they need to give more or less of a drug.

It would be very time consuming/wasteful to calculate the dosages at every weight and BMI category. A standard adult does works fine in most situations.

You know, this "its all in your head thing" is getting old...i'm having side effects and i'm quitting. I'm ecstatic you don't, but don't tell me whats going on with my own body...
