i'm getting the same side effects on dutasteride that i got with finasteride

hi everyone i just started dutasteride about 5 days ago and straight away on day 1 i get rash and hives just like i got with finasteride which i tried by the way for 8 months with no results, can anyone explain this?

Uhm yea, that's because it's a 5AR inhibitor just like finasteride, only more powerful. Both drugs inhibit DHT big time, seems your body doesn't like that.

yes it might be really stupid, but i don't care, the waste of 2 years under a hat is what i care about, I've been a hypochondriac for years but in the lat few months i just don't care, this has effected my relationships because of confidence. i heard the solution for this side effect is to drink lots of water which i don't do much

Yes, you're right -- it is stupid. And it's also obvious you do not care about your health, plain and simple. Go ahead then, continue taking a 5AR inhibitor that:

1. will likely not work for you anyway, since finasteride didn't
2. is much more powerful than finasteride
3. is riskier than finasteride, since dutasteride inhibits 5AR1 in the brain (nobody knows longterm consequences of this)
4. is causing you side effects already

But don't sit here and complain about it if yer just gonna keep taking it. Suck it up instead, since you "dont care".

You are having an allergic reaction to either the medication or ~99% DHT inhibition. Your body is trying to tell you something.

You can either try and "ride it out" or you can stop and be healthy. Your choice. I honestly doubt water will do anything for you other than a placebo effect. But good luck thinking drinking a few glasses will cure you of the side effects from inhibiting both 5AR enzymes in your body.

You really need to step back and do some research about what you are doing to yourself. Here's a start: it's called "Androgen Deprivation". Google it.

you really scared me, but i'm so depressed i have a rare form of alopecia called diffuse unpatterned alopecia, my mother has the same, and i'm only 20 and feel so down even suicidal at times,i dunno what to do, you even made me skip a dose coz i'm afraid, i read the info on Androgen Deprivation and it scares me to read that i might be in risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, i donno what to do, i'm so upset

go see a doctor and talk to him about everything. You're freaking out and you won't find help on a forum.
