After 12 months of heavy loss including my current shed which has been the worst I've experienced whilst on finasteride it's time to make the next step. Am going to order from up today. I'm putting my hopes on the fact that a lot of people who have had no success on finasteride had better luck with dutasteride. Let's see what happens.

As a bit of an experiment I'm going to stay on finasteride for a further week and am contacting the doctor to get my dht, test, estrogen levels measured. I'll then get them measured a month later whilst on dutasteride.

This is the last throw of the dice for me really so I'm hoping it all works out. Cheers future dutasteride buddies.

(high fives all round)

Good call, I think its the right thing to do after 6-12 months on finasteride if no positive results.

The tests will be great to see, I think more of us need to try that too just to make sure the meds are working to reduce DHT.

Good luck, that's a good few of us switching in the last month or two from finasteride, lets hope it all works out.

Whilst its too early to see hair benefit yet I have had no sides on dutasteride like I did with finasteride so that's a positive and that's at full dose which I was never able to take with finasteride.

i see you use head n shoulders i recommend you go with nizoral should be good for your dandruff if you have any and a good anti androgen for your hair. i personally think head n shoulders every other day is harsh. nizoral 2 times a week should be all you need.

Getting Dutas? Your blood test should give us confirmation of whether that stuff is real or not. :)

Again we find ourselves hampered by GP's who ahve no knowledge of this sort of thing. Jsut back from the doctors where he refused to sanction a blood test to check my DHT levels... only testosterone. How annoying.

say you have a history of BPH, they cant refuse a DHT test then.

edit, sorry. Benign prostatic hyperplasia.

I think we're struggling to get a DHT test in the UK even if we were prepared to pay for it.

Anyone from UK successfully had a DHT test in the UK?

And anyone on Dutas that would share the results even if not in the UK would be good :)

thanks for that, I guess I meant in terms of attempting to build up slowly to avoid a huge shed.

Well just over my month and hair is thinner all over. Feels dryer than usual too.

I guess as the back even feels thinner is a sign its a shed rather than continued male pattern baldness although i'm losing more in the receding hairline area.

Looks really bad now. I may have to resort to buzz.

Praying this comes back..never did with finasteride..the hair I continued to lose was gone forever

finasteride was bad for me, caused bad sides so much I had to drastically reduce dose.

dutasteride has not sides.

My theory is if your body reacts badly then drug is being rejected. So i'm taking the good reaction to dutasteride as a postive.

JDW I think if your gonna get a shed then you will get one and dutasteride is so effective at reducing DHT that even reducing dose will still mean a shed if its going to happen. you just have to go for it, best I recon at recommended dose if your body is o.k. with it but even reduced dose is better than finasteride.

Timi, then I think finasteride is good for you, don't go too high on dose though, 1mg is best to stick to.

We know your experience of dutasteride is bad for your hair, or think it is as you did did do minoxidil at same time, did you get sides on dutasteride?
