It seems to be coming to a point where I need to shave my head/buzz it down short, I can now see in fairly bright light my scalp pretty much all over. I never thought I had would have to do this so early in my life. I thought I would hit 30 before I had to do it.

Can some people post pics of them with hair and shaved/buzzed down hair so I can see what to expect(how the hair looks when it is shorter

I dont have any pics of my head simply buzzed, the best i can do is show you how it looks after being shaved with a mach 3 razor in the shower....This is about 8 hours after...

1. This is from a distance. As you can see, if you are very thin on top (I have virtually nothing), then the scalp can look completely bare in the light, but you can still see the shadow around the sides:

2. This is just a close up of my head.

3. This is how it looks from the front. As you can see, although I have a minimal amount up top, even shaving it to the bone still leaves some shadow, and the face is still kind of framed...for now... Not long left till it all goes though.

Hope this is of help.

Wow zack, you pull off the shaved look really well. You probably look better without hair than with it. I wish I could do the same but my damn deformed head is preventing me from doing so.

Zack-How old are you? You are really lucky that it suits you so much.

Anyone else got any pics? any people who have buzzed it down to a 1 or 2? (oh and before pics)

OOOOooo thats made me want to more, no offence but my hair isnt that bad, though I do have receeded sides(I got these when I was about 16) and my hair is just generally thin

I'm 22. And the guy in the picture next to me is a friend of mine who had an allergic reaction to some dodgy vodka...Ive shaved it to the bone for a couple of years now, because it was hugely aggressive in my late teens and seemed to come out of nowhere. Quite a lot of it is gone for my age I know, im virtually a nw5/6 (aside from a very tiny island at the front) but I decided to start shaving it earlier than I needed to so that I can stop worrying about it, and worrying about the day when I will have to shave it to the bone. This has really helped me to get used to it, although the mach 3 blades start to get expensive.

Zack,
Do you have some pictures when you had longer hair before you shaved it?

I shave it with gilette shaving gel in the shower and a mach 3 blade. I prefer to use the gel than the foam because it gives a closer shave. I also shave against the grain to get it that bit shorter. How often I do it depends on how often I go out to places where there are attractive women. I always shave it clean and short as possible before I go out if i want to get laid...as you probably know, I strongly believe that people who grow out the Norwood 6/7 horseshoe are totally unattractive to females..But on average Id say I shave it once every 3 days.

I dont have that many good pictures of how it was when it was longer, the best i can do is show you how it looked about three years ago, before i noticed i was losing it:

1. Four years ago, drinking a beer:

2. 3 years ago

3. 3 years ago, with a bit of bad sunburn...

Hope this is in some way helpful to people in observing the difference it makes.

It goes to show how quickly hairloss can kick in when it starts, mine was slow for several years but went bezerk last year, I had very long hair for years and its strange seeing photos from only 3 years ago when it was barely noticable. You are lucky because you look great with it shaved, if you get your hair back it will be a bonus.

Yeah youre right, it just seemed to go ridculously quick and was so aggressive..it really really scared me at first and took me by surprise because of the rate it was going. I remember very well the first time I held a mirror behind my head and could see the devoloping horseshoe and the thinning all over the top. I smashed the mirror with my belt. I bet my friend then that Id be completely bald on top by 23, and I see now that was a pretty good estimate. As for getting it back, I have no intention of trying to do so, firstly because it is gone too far for any treatments to work, including transplants since even my donor area is minimal, and secondly, girls never seemed to respond to me until I had it all shaved off. Ive read on this forum recently someone saying that once a guy goes bald, if he has a good body then he will still be able to get a pretty girl, but not one as attractive as he could of got if he had hair. Ive found the total opposite to be true; the more hair i lose and shorter I shave it, the hotter the girl. Saying that, security guards keep more of an eye on me in shops these days because they assume my shaved head means ill steal something....I find it amusing, since the worst thing ive ever done in my life is miss a day of work through laziness.

Zack - I find exactly the same thing to be true. When I had my hair a normal length, women said I was attractive, but when I shaved it to a zero, women came out of the woodwork to tell me how good I looked with a shaved head.

Totally agree on the security guard thing too. I also find that people at the gym stare a whole lot the shorter my hair gets. I walked in today and everyone eyeballed me as I walked by. "Great, another skinhead", they were probably thinking.
