It has been two weeks since i have been using spironolactone cream. I was not completely aware of its possible side effects, but i just thought it was the effects of any anti-androgens. Anyway i was not taking it oraly so i did not really care.

The last 7 days i have noticed a real problem with my breath. I constantly felt like I couldnt take enough air, and one time that i run really fast to catch up with the bus i almost panicked that i would suffocate. I blamed it to smoking, although i dont smoke that much and i smoke much less now than i used too.

And now i read on this site http://www.farrellmanual.com/topical/spironolactone.htm that spironolactone has a shortness of breath side effect. The only reason i am really concerned about it, is because i DID NOT know, spironolactone had this effect. If i did, and notice the same thing i would be 100% sure that it was all in my mind.

So i am really worried about 2 things: First of all it is an important side effect. I just cant be 100% that it is caused by spironolactone, but it seems too weird to be a coincidence. And, secondly, if i have this kind of side effect, i could as easily get other side effects of spironolactone, which are really important since it is a very powerful anti-androgen. I havent noticed any loss of libido or pain chest anyway.

What do guys you think?

Eh, I think the shortness of breath symptom is very seperate from sexual side effects. It doesn't sound like you're feeling limp, and with a drug as intense as spironolactone, if you were getting that much systemic absorption the effects probably would have manifest themselves. But nonetheless, overabsorption is probably the issue if you are receving sides. You could reduce dosage. I believe you are on other topicals and drugs too? It could be synergistic.

Yes i am on minoxidil too. What i meant that if i get 1 of spironolactone side effects this means that spironolactone passes through my body, much like taking it orally. I will reduce dosage for sure, and have emailed dr. lee. Anyone knows if there are any tests i could take to see if i have spironolactone in my blood?
