DHT is the most powerful androgen in the human body greatly- and beneficially- affecting almost every part of the body, especially the brain, liver, immune system, bone strength, muscalature, libido, energy levels.

It is NOT some reduntant "nasty" that serves no useful purpose.Just ask any endocrinologist. Propecial reduces DHT by 70%!!

I was on propecia for 4 years and it was really f*****g me up seriouslly. within a week of stopping it and my DHT levels went to normal I felt 20 years younger.

I think it is sad that a whole generation is voluntarily castrating themselves chemically because they are not being told the truth about DHT. Dont f*** around with you hormones or with mother nature!

Yea propecia is extremely dangerous. It fucked up all the hundreds of thousands of people who use propecia. It killed all the people that tested propecia for the FDA trails and was still accepted as safe and effective by the FDA.

This guy is right. Propecia is evil and if you use it you will feel 20 years older and it will fry your organs.

Michealjames, you might have some point and you might be right that propecia might f*** up your hormones alittle but thats not the way to post about it.

i feel the same now as i always have. maybe you should take the time to consider that not all people are the same and that for the majority of people it really does help with hairloss and doesnt have any adverse side effects. how about an open mind?

There are so many people on that sh*t that if there was a problem Glaxo would get the biggest class action lawsuit in history. It may have screwed up some unfortunate dudes but overall I believe it is safe. Think about it as the number one preventative for male pattern baldness and the amount of guys on it you see tens of guys everyday that take it. If it was as bad as you guys say then it would have been banned since it came out 5 years ago. There are always the stories, but aspirin and dexatrim have there stories to.

yo redbone, you talking about Propecia (made by Merck) or Avodart (Glaxo)?

MichaelJames -- do you know your exact hormone levels before and after Propecia?

heres the thing , yeah has some function in the body im sure. What that function is I'm not totally sure. However , to just say you need dht and not allow the possibility of having way too much is pretty stupid.

there seem to be at least two types of balding men. Those with very sensitive hair follicles and some dht , and those with slightly sensitive follicles and huge amounts of dht. For the latter group Propecia would lower dht levels but not remove it completely so this would most probably not be too dangerous or harmful. For the former , Im not sure.

nb. this is all conjecture please be nice

I'm neither for nor against propecia. I have never tried it and never will simply because I feel I'm beyond the stage that it can have any help for me. I have never heard of anyone dieing from too little DHT in their system (although science may not have taken us far enough to know this for certain) and its over abundance is proven to affect hair loss and prostate enlargement.
