Because I went to reply and wasn't able to reply within it. I respect that it was closed for good reason, but there wasn't any need to, I wasn't offended by the thread. I hope that this one won't turn into a slanging match and therefore won't need to be locked. All I was going to say is the following:

For anyone who is wondering, Zircon's thread is in reaction to some posts which I made in this thread. Now, obviously my posts upset Zircon enough that he felt the need to post what he has but I will say that I find his thread a bit strange and, a tad dishonest. The reason being that my posts were 1) my personal experiences 2) largely a response to this distasteful idea that I had seen earlier in the evening, that people who commit suicide while having full heads of hair didn't know how good they had it and how balding is basically life ending. Indeed, Zircon's own comment is that he would 'rather be dead' than bald. For me...call me crazy if you want, but this lacks perspective.

I'll just let people read through and make their own minds up, it doesn't matter too much to me.

All I will say is that it would be interesting to know where I said that others should absolutely not try treatments if they want to? Just because I personally choose not to use finasteride doesn't mean I have told others they should not. As a side note, I do urge people to think very carefully about the long term planning of transplants because I have recently met and spoken with many people who now feel 'trapped' by the results of their hair transplant and the need to have more etc to look normal. Some simply don't have the option of looking normal again. The limitations of transplants for most are definitely understated. But even despite this warning, I have not said that they can't work well for some.

Here are a couple of quotes of myself from that thread which prompted Zircon to write his. Contrast them to what he claimed I said:

"Zircon is saying it is crazy to change social groups and fine, if you can avoid doing so then great. But at the same time, why waste the one life you have on this earth around people who are going to put you down or treat you badly for completely superficial reasons? I suppose some people's lives are more set in stone than others but again, as I get older I have less time for sh*t people."

"If others want to use finasteride or dutasteride then I am happy for them and won't criticise but we all have our own choices to make."

The ability to adapt is what makes a person strong.
