Increased dosage from 0.25mg to 0.375mg EOD now

I've been taking 0.25mg EOD since Feb 1st by cutting my Dr. Reddy's Finax into fourths. I've decided to go to Proscar (cutting it into 8ths) once my supply runs out so I'm just slowly increasing my dosage now.

It's actually not too hard to cut this finax people into a 1/8th chunk though it takes some practice and good alignment in the pill splitter. I will eventually raise it to 0.5mg EOD and then when I 8th my proscar that will be 0.625mg of finasteride. I will stick to EOD.

I don't think many here were doing 0.25mg EOD. Is the 0.5mg EOD working out ok for people? I bought into the side effects fear mongering when I first started finasteride so I thought I'd mitigage these concerns by doing 0.25mg EOD. Didn't have any sides obviously, so I figure I'll just work my up to the 0.625mg rather than a straight shot up.

No problems with 1.25mg per day of finasteride. No problems with 0.5mg EOD of dutasteride.

I take 0.25mg due to big tiredness side on 1mg. Its not working at all but I can't up the dose...I am considering trying dutasteride in hope not sides at recommended dose.

drowsiness from finasteride?!?! I haven't heard that one before. That's not even an official side effect is it?

How long have you been on finasteride for? How do you know it's not working? Did you have your DHT levels compared before and after finasteride or something?

You're not taking 0.5mg EOD are you? That's what I'm curious about in specific.

If 0.25mg is about 90% as effective as 1mg than certainly 0.5mg is even closer.

What is "cheap enough"? 0.25mg is 4x less expensive than 1mg.

proper dose, Id say is what merck sells for hair loss which is 1mg...if they thought less than that would be better...they sell you .5mg for the same price and make more money

I think the Merck dose is fairly arbitrary. They wanted a level that would balance limiting sides with maximising effectiveness, and settled on 1mg/day.

Im sure they weighed out what would make them the most money...if they coulda gotten away with .5mg they would have...

ive seen it...but still there has to be a reason for merck to use 1mg...if they coudl get away with .5mg being over 90% as effective they would DOUBLE THEIR profits...
