I tried to join this community a long time ago, but there was a problem with the registration process :)

I'm a female in my 50s, I have been struggling with hair loss since my late 20s with significant thinning on the crown (androgenic alopecia) to the point of nearly no hair there with no hairline. I tried minoxidil 5% in my mid 40s but with only limited success, so I stopped using it after a year or so. I've been forced to rely on wigs and toppers for many years. I did try the hair system thing, but I struggled with adhesion and excess glue after a few weeks and decided it was not for me.

I started minoxidil 5% again a couple of years ago with the same limited results, but have been trying another experimental treatment in conjunction with it for about 9 months. It's looking like it may be a bit promising. Time will tell!

May I ask why? I’ve had no adverse effects from topical minoxidil and I don’t need a prescription for it. Is oral minoxidil proven to be more effective than topical?

It is proven yes. I put 3 drops in a capsule and swallow it. Yes topical liquid not tablets.

Interesting. Can you please point me to the research supporting this method? Everything I've read indicates that topical minoxidil should never be taken orally as there is risk of refractory shock due to its vasodilatory effect.

Oral minoxidill is just loniten. You can get it prescribed in pill form. Some who wants to save money like me just use 2 to 3 drops of the 5% topical liquid minoxidill. Just google oral minoxidill results on reddit.

The National Library of Medicine gives peer-reviewed analysis of why taking topical minoxidil orally isn't safe, so it isn't something I would recommend :)
20 ml of 5% topical solution of minoxidil (Tugain 5 hair oil – Cipla Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Mumbai, India).. lol thats 20ML. Im talking about 2 to 3 tiny drops from a pipette. Thats like 2.5mg total. Bahahhaha.
