I been dating this fine chick for two weeks and finally had sex yesterday. The good thing about taking finasteride is you can last long and that is certainly no complains from the ladies department but when I came, it seems my sensation is gone. Has anybody exprience this?

lol yes its funny you mention that because i have desame problem ever since i have taken finasteride. Well for me as long I still feel the little couple of seconds of sensation then i will continue to take finasteride. Hopefully I won't end up taking v**** when I'm 50 years old.

I was just about to post the same question! Since I have started taking finasteride. I can say without a doubt that I have substantially decreased sensation in orgasm. It is very wierd but it also sometimes feels like my pecker is made of rubber! Im guessing that is why people say they can last longer while on finasteride. I did initially have the blue ball feeling when I started finasteride for the first couple of weeks but it has since gone away. My sex drive was never really that strong even before taking finasteride so I can't comment in that department.

Has anyone else expereinced the decreased sensation while taking finasteride? I used to have very powerfull orgasms and now they are barely noticable! I am praying that since I have only been taking finasteride for 3 weeks that this will subside...

after taking finasteride, i can go at it forever... but the sensation seems to be reduced.

I hope something better comes out in the future so I wont have to be on finasteride forever.

I don't mean to be a scare monger, believe me, I want to use continue to use finasteride. just as bad as the next guy but I fear for potential long term consequences. Since I have started having the reduced sensation I have done some searching on the web and it would appear that there are many people out there who have the same problem and some have not been able reverse this even after stopping finasteride. There are some theories that the lack of DHT can cause permanent damage to the receptor areas responsible for pleasure sensation and or somehow damage penile tissue. f***! There have been guys that said there wangs started bending to one direction while using finasteride.

I am at a complete loss at this point in time. I have made a decision to stop using finasteride. in order to see if everything returns to normal sensation. I am not prepared to continue using it if I my orgams are no longer pleasurable. If there is anyone else out there that has had this reduced sensation, was it temproary for you or did it remain while using finasteride? Anyone not been back to normal since stopping finasteride? Thanks for the input.

Yea, me and a lot of the guys on http://www.propeciahelp.com ... that's why the site exists in the first place, we're trying to figure out how to reverse the damage and altered endocrine system the drug left us with after quitting. Same deal with with http://www.propeciasideffects.com

You can also search my post history here for more info... ie, viewtopic.php?f=46&t=37542&p=336632#p336632

Loss of sensation started within a week of taking it, continued while on the drug, never returned after quitting 2 yrs ago.

My dick feels like rubber and basically feels like an arm that has fallen asleep, no longer pleasureable to the touch. This is 100% real man, for some unfortunate guys, and also penile shrinkage, fibrosis and Peyronie's Disease (curvature) as a result of the depleted androgens, namely DHT.

ALSO -- since I already know PONDLE will come in here and disagree with me or claim that some of the Finasteride studies on Propeciahelp.com are done to rodents and at high doses and that they therefore have no clinical or statistical relevance to us, I will head that off in advance.

I disagree with his pro-Finasteride claims since 1) Finasteride essentially has a flat-dose response... 1mg or 100mg, inhibition of DHT is nearly identical; 2) animal models (despite our genetic differences, rats/humans are mammals) are often used to test the effects of medication before they are tested in humans, to see what effects they might have -- often with similar results; and 3) what they showed in those studies happened to me and a small percentage of others in real life, as they demonstrated in the rodent and other studies demonstrating what happens when you inhibit 5AR-II and a percentage of DHT (an androgen). There are also studies showing that androgens are critical for maintenance of proper genital tissue structure and function in humans, that the human penis is rife with androgen receptors, and that 5AR-II is found in genital skin.

I'll let you put two and two together. As for Pondle: don't even bother. Quote and spout off all you want about "clinical relevance" and "stastical correlation", I'll take my personal experience over your "statistically improbable" claims anyday.

Mew,

I haven't been on finasteride for quite a month but yesterday was my last day. I had the desensitized dick feeling going and I definately don't want to cause permanent damage. Do you think that 3 weeks worth of finasteride can cause irreversable damage? I fuckin hope not... I better get that lovin feeling back or I am gonna be super pissed at myself.. I just ordered spironolactone and will use it twice daily all over my head in attempt to replace the finasteride.

That's fine mate! I'm not going to argue with you - I don't think we're going to arrive at any kind of consensus, judging by our previous discussions

Like Bryan told you over in the finasteride forum, he "had read a bunch of finasteride studies, but... never seen any mention of [the possibility of permanent finasteride-induced sides], and certainly no case history of it." But (and this is a big 'but'), whoever believes that finasteride is too risky shouldn't take it. And they should certainly consult a qualified medical practitioner first!

Moreover, I wish all those who are suffering from impotence, libido problems etc. - finasteride-related or not - good luck in addressing their condition.

I'm thinking about quitting propecia as well, it seems theres a lot more to loose negatively than the positive outcome. Anyways it seems like its not working for me. Having orgasm may be only be couple seconds but Damm! its the best freaking couple you will ever enjoy as being man. I just don't want to end up taking v**** in the long run it seems like the medical industry is all about money you take 1 drug and you have to take another to treat the side effect.

Hey about2bbald,

How long have you been taking finasteride for? I actually stopped taking finasteride as of yesterday morning and the wierd thing is my nuts are starting to ache pretty good like when I first started and I am also getting a tingling feeling up in my rear. I assume this must be a result of my hormones and prostate attempting to return to where they were before starting finasteride. I was told at a young age that I may have some type of prostatitis as I periodically get burning urination and exess dripping etc. and the funny thing was once I started taking finasteride. it seemed like my urinary function improved while on it.

Do you guys think there is any point to tying to drop down to a 0.25 dose? I just don't want to cause any permanent damage.

Hey nydheart I haven't made a full decision to stop finasteride but I been taking finasteride for 4 months now. I'm thinking about giving at least 6 months to see if it really works but its just I'm experience many sides so im going to consult with my dermatologist which is a good friend of my dad. Another thing that pissing me off is Ya the word PISSING ,it seems like im always frequently going to the bathroom and peeing . I cant get a goodnight sleep because i tend to wake up of the feeling to pee, how long have you been on finasteride?

Hey About.

I have only been on just over three weeks and like I said I have been off for almost 2 days and I am amazed at the difference in penile sensation just in that short period of time. Everything seems to have returned to normal. I didn't even know that penile desensitization was a side effect of finasteride. until I started doing some poking around when I experienced it so I know I am not imagining this.

Maybe you should try and skip a couple of days to see if the sensation returns? DAMN! I don't know what to do... I did order some 5% spironolactone in order to try and replace the finasteride but now I don't know what to do. I really don't wan't to tempt fate and end up with long term issues like those on propeciahelp.com...

The choices are:

1. Take DHT inhibitors and risk not enjoying sex quite so much.
2. Don't take DHT inhibitors, go bald, and find it harder to find anyone willing to have sex with you at all.

There's two bad options there, but #1 is the least worst. There is no "good" option if you are born with male pattern baldness.

Hopefully this will change in the future.

Nydheart, I agree with Stampede - unfortunately your options are limited, and pretty stark. I wouldn't be quite so negative about the dating potential of bald men though! :)

BTW, I'd don't want to sound like a patronising git so my apologies if this sounds a little impolite, but in my view you should be seeking medical advice about drug treatments from qualified professionals, not us random guys who post on hairloss forums. No one here or on any other forum that I know of seems to be a trained urologist, endocrinologist or pharmacist; even if a poster claims that they have some specialist knowledge, there's no way you can authenticate that.

Anecdotes and opinions on internet forums have their place, but they also have very serious limitations.
