Brain fog and decline in cognitive function is commonly associated with finasteride use. I have also read a couple of articles about the negative effects that inhibiting 5ar-reductase has on important neurosteroids in the brain - mainly the article "The Dark Side of 5-ar reductase Inhibitors Therapy" on NHI is where I first read about this. Also, the article about "Severe alterations in the hippocamus caused by finasteride", with the hippocamus being the part of the brain associated with memory.
Considering this, I was wondering what anyone here thought about taking finasteride long-term for hair loss for someone who has had a history of concussions? Also, if the dose was 0.5mg or applied topically, would that help mitigate possible negative side effects? I'm curious to see what anyone's thoughts here are on this.
