Is Finasteride still working - Finasteride and dreams?

I've been taking Fincar (split into quarters, taking one quarter per day) for over 2 years. During this time, along with other sides such as decreased sperm and frequent urinating, I noticed I wasn't having many dreams, or at least I was not remembering them upon waking.
Over Christmas last year, I read a few horror stories about Finasteride which led me to stop taking it for about five weeks. The dreams didn't really improve that much and the fear of not doing anything during this five weeks, to prevent male pattern baldness, led me to order some more and start taking it again. I have now been taking it again for around 4 months and in the last few weeks, I have started having vivid dreams again for the first time in a long time.

Because of this, I am just worried that maybe this time round, propecia is not working for me or it's not a real batch, even though it was ordered form Inhouse, the same place I've always ordered from. I still seem to be urinating frequently, especially compared to other male friends whom I assume are not on finasteride. I also still seem to have decreased sperm amount when ejaculating, though it's not watery, it seems thick but there's just not much of it.

Does Finasteride effect dreaming and should a 5 week break have any effects on how it works?

I have increased my fitness and healthy eating in the last few weeks and have been consuming a lot of protein, so maybe the dreaming can be attributed to that?

Re: Finasteride and dreams?

I did NOT dream when I was on Finas. If I recall correctly when coming off the drug I started dreaming again however they were always horrible heart pounding dreams that something was badly wrong! I don't miss those dreams!

Re: Finasteride and dreams?

Thanks for your replies. So, do you think that the finasteride is no longer working or the finasteride is fake, or maybe the side effect of having no dreams has just subsided?

Another thing to note is that I have switched from Rogaine foam to Kirkland Minoxidil and am only applying it once a day.

finasteride has never affected my dreams. If anything, I have had more dreams while on it. My sleep quality has been normal.

Is it normal for a side effect to subside like that? I'm just worried that the pills are no longer working, or they are fake.

I notice that when I workout and eat right, I sleep better. One of the "side effects" of better sleep (for me) is dreams. I don't usually dream that much, but I do when I'm taking better care of my body.

I really wouldn't freak out if all your other "sides" are still present. I highly doubt that finasteride is going to give you an absence of dreams :)
