This was after brushing my hair today. I wash my hair everyday with a very mild shampoo by the way so this is not the accumulation of several days.

I have been on daily dutasteride 0.5mg +minoxidil for a year and have been shedding like that the whole time. Just 1+ year of constant shedding and shedding and shedding.
My hair just keeps on getting thinner by the way.

I just turned 21.

What is even the point. I'm someone who doesn't want to become muscular or grow a beard. I want to stay skinny with pretty hair. I'm not even asking for regrowth, just for the shedding to stop.

During summer i buzzed my hair to try, tried to grow my beard, and it made me want to throw up, it's not a look for me at all.

My hair is thin, wispy, dead. I feel like a rat.
Why did this curse have to fall on me. I hate my dad for giving me such crappy genetics. It ruined my life

if you check my profile i have a thread on "Tell your Story". The thing is that my already shitty hairline hasn't moved that much but the overall density really dropped and you can't see it on pictures (obviously)

dutasteride seems to do little for the hairline/temples. You need a AR agonist like ru-58841 or hydroxyflutamide

I wouldn't say that really, nickypoo or whatever his names was regrew his temples on dutasteride within 6 months. He was a rare and excellent responder though.

Besides the fact that RU is difficult to get and very expensive, I have diffuse shedding from all over my head. If it was only my temples I would be fine with it, I don't have temples anymore anyway.

Are there cases on this forum of people who actually went bald while they were on duta ?

My hair has shed like that the majority of the time i've been on treatments. I used to worry like you in the early days but im now 6 years strong and i still have my hair.

From your "Tell Your Story" thread your hair looks great and seems to be holding.

Could this constant shedding be from min reviving hairs with shorter cycle cause they never reach the full anagen.

From your April pics you seem to be holding well, diffuse can still be seen.

I think its probably down to the minoxidil but then again I was pretty much on a constant shed the first year was on propecia (added minoxidil 1 year in)

Thanks guys for your answers.

Centurie: Were you on finasteride for 6 years, and the shedding just stopped after being on it for a year and couple months ?

I know it seems to be holding but pictures are deceiving. I don't see how my hair could be maintaining if i were to shed 200 terminal hairs per day for more than a year straight you know. I really feel like my density took a hit.

Might be due to increase in T, not sure, T scalp levels increase by over 100% on dutasteride, it is far weaker than DHT though so not sure, but i have read quite a few people who switched from finasteride to dutasteride and regretted it. Im quite happy on it, works well, more chance of maintaining over a longer period than finasteride.

The testosterone thing makes me doubtful... Is that like hyperandrogenetism (or whatever it was called) some hair loss forum science theory or has it been proved that testosterone and not DHT can harm follicles ?
I ask this because, based on the korean study where they successfully gave to finasteride non-responders dutasteride and found success or maintainment, it seems that dutasteride can only be better for hair compared to finasteride (at respectively 0,5 mg and 1 mg a day)

Maybe add a topical solution with finasteride or some other androgen blocker. It could be that your scalp dht is still too high. Worth a shot to see if it helps the shedding

Dont stop duta yet, you are at the point where it is at its optimal effectiveness. Your next steps should be as telogen said to add a topial AA, RU/CB/OH-flut. They are extremely good combo with duta, because as mentioned earlier scalp T increases a lot on duta, and it wrecks your hairline specifically. AAs will very well compete with T and duta will take care of dht. Also start microneedling with Follica protocol and don't apply topicals on that day. Watch your process over the next 6month.

You could also add topical duta once per week, to cleanse scalp of dht entirely. But I say do the above first.

Selb, Equal Rights, thanks for the answers. :)Feeling really lonely in this fight and all the replies mean a lot.
I have to say i have looked back to all the old pictures i had of myself a year ago, and on crown area i am def not below baseline, but my hairline is below baseline.

As for duta, don't worry i won't stop. I made it a promise to myself to continue staying on it for three years at least.

I am scared about Ru and others because the sourcing is shady and long term effects aren't known. At least with duta i know it's legit and people use it in other countries for pattern baldness... Although my next step will be microneedling for sure.

No worries man. We’re all brothers and sisters here in the fight against hair loss, no matter the kind or extent.

if you’re not comfortable with RU, maybe consider a topical solution with dutasteride/finasteride and minoxidil? Something like @jazz1 has posted about before. It would help in reducing scalp dht if there’s still some remaining on dutasteride. The problem is if you’re ultra sensitive to testosterone dutasteride increases it quite a bit so you might take hit on the hairline. That’s the point to RU as it can help block the receptor itself.

microneedling for sure will help too, and give you density plus possible regrowth on your temples.

Good to hear its just the hairline. Not to kill your hopes but I got sides from duta after 8months of taking it, they just kicked in very suddenly, hope that doesn't happen to you. AAs are almost a must tbh, and you can get pretty reliable RU from anagenic, as for LT use its hard to say. I got ED from RU so I will be switching to CB which has good hopes of going public, so I you are ok to spend a bit then CB is the way. Lastly estriol at 10mg according to peguses will almost never give anyone sides and is also an AA, consider it.

You guys honestly if it's just my temples that go and i can fix it with hair transplant like did Machine Gun Kelly I'm okay with it. Is CB the Breezula thing ?

It's definitely not just the hairline. Looking at the pics in your thread you're diffusing. Within five years you'll be at the shave it stage if you stop dutasteride.

Hey hope this helps, I posted this thread for forum members and you can obtain discount. Check the thread for Topical Finasteride/Dutasteride/Spironolactone mixtures with Minoxidil.
