Is it dangerous to "ride out" finasteride sides

I'm nearing two months of taking finasteride (1mg daily) and though I don't have any horror story sides, I've noticed I haven't had any unprovoked erections lately. Also, when business does take place, I'd say my peep is working at about 90%. It's nothing that's really hurting my sexual activity, but it's still alarming. I really don't want to give up just yet, so how dumb would it be just to hang on for another month and hope for the best?

Also, I'm not ruling out the chance that this is all in my head, but I've no idea how to fix that either.

I'm think about just using spironolactone topical. Since my only objective is to maintain hair, would that be a smarter option or does it just not work as well?

Also, Jesus, there's a bunch of potential puns in this post

This is something you would want to talk to your doctor about and maybe get a blood test to see what's going on. I'm a long term user of finasteride myself, and I'm not altogether against it, but it's not something that should go ignored.

On a side note, erections can be heavily influenced by stress, anxiety, etc.

from personal experience, i can say that i also felt probably around 90% erection and libido-wise while on the drug (3.5 years on before stopping). that area (ED, sexual sides, etc.) luckily never worsened for me and i was 100% content with where i stood in that area (i.e., i didn't feel that it negatively effected my happiness or livelihood). other areas (neurological) did, however, worsen over time...so, it's difficult to say for you.

my best advice would be to monitor your status, but to not overly-monitor and/or over-analyze them, because doing that is certain to result in negative sides because your brain will absolutely trick you at that point into thinking things are worse than they actually are. don't think about it for a bit, then re-evaluate after a few weeks...and if your gut feeling at that point is that things have truly worsened, then don't stay on the drug. i feel like i made that mistake -- i stayed on the drug hoping that changes in dosages, etc. would remove myself entirely from the sides i experienced, but in actuality, i was merely masking them for a bit and was allowing myself to become far too blinded/tricked by what was actually going on and i became naive because i didn't want what was painted on the wall in front of me to be true (that finasteride just simply wasn't for me -- it's not for everyone).

again: not trying to scare you AT ALL, and i don't discard the drug's positive effects, but i just advise people to be self-aware and not try to ride things out for too long if it doesn't appear that you're turning a corner.

best of luck.

EDIT: just realized this is from back in March...sorry for the late reply. let us know what's up.
