i know that normal minoxidil works faster if you make it in wet hair. is that the same with the foam?

No. Apply to dry scalp/hair so the full strength gets absorbed. Don't water either down.

I think it is best to "make foam" to a hydrated scalp. That means you should apply it after your shower, after you have towel-dried your hair like normal (i.e. no blow-drying).

If you only shower once a day then just apply it to your dry scalp for the other application. There is no need in wetting your head just for the minoxidil.

Hope this helps.

I've read posts that say it's more effective if the scalp's damp but I personally apply it when dry, there'll be a reason why it says to in the instructions.

I believe the reason it's advised to avoid applying the foam (or the liquid for that matter) to a wet scalp is because it increases the chances if the solution being absorbed systemically. That means you are more likely to have side effects.

Personally, find it impossible to get full scalp coverage with just half a cap full when my hair is dry as I still have alot of hair left, so I wash and towel dry my hair prior to application. This enables me to spread it evenly over my entire scalp. I have not had any problems with side effects.

hm , seems like you all say it.

well lets se now.. say you aply 5 % minxo on a scalp. You use 1 ml
and on the scalp you got 0.5 ml og water from the shower.
Then you wil get about the effect of a 3.33 % minoxidil, because you will only aply over so it all feels covered.. and with the water recidue it will not get the same strength as it should.. because it will be mixed with water.
I would not recomend using minoxidil on a wet head/hair.

But offcourse its up to every person what they want to do

i may be a newbe on this board but i started using minoxidil over 25 years ago my derma gave me a script to have the pills crushed up way back when so i am no newbe to minoxidil so take it from me use it on a dry scalp so what does absorb in your scalp is only minoxidil.
look at it this way if a sponge that can absorb lets say 6 ounces of water
is full then putting more water on it will not absorb since it is full
Do you get my point

Your scalp is not a sponge...absorption rate is the highest with a hydrated scalp actually.

i dont think it really matters as far as hair goes... it just acts as a light moose.

its supposed to be on your scalp not your hair so your supposed to be trying to get it to contact as much as possible and not just styling your hair with it.

I used to take the script to the pharmacy and he made up the compound
it cost me about $250 for a 1% lotion at that time. Before that my derm gave me progestern shots in the scalp and did they hurt, then later then tagemet came out and the said it grew hair on mice so my Doctor gave me a script for that well that was before the minoxidil fad and then Procar came out which the side aeffect was to grow hair on men.You see all these drugs that claim to have side effects to grow hair but you have to understand these side effects are low and not every one will have them but they still approve them for hair loss. My Doctor has kept up on the latest studys before they were approved.

THIS is why you don't want to apply it to a wet scalp. He's right.
