seriously every time after work (i lug mufflers and axles around in an auto parts store) it seems like it just comes out and seems like more of it comes out with little dandruff bits attached at the root

I think the sweating may loosen the hairs that would have fallen anyway later in the shower (I am presuming you wash). Just a guess.
