I've tried a couple a keto shampoos (Nizoral & Regenpure) but they all seem to make my hair a bit dry and crappy looking. I was wondering if I was to use a conditioner would it make the keto shampoo less effective? Also do people think it's best to use the conditioner straight after using the keto shampoo or on different days? Finally, any conditioners people recommend for thinning hair?
Thanks.

I'm using the conditioner that goes with the Regenepure range. It's one of those real slimy greasy ones though. Only used twice and stopped. I may give it another few goes, but it's one of the ones that you rinse out and it still feels like it's in there. Certainly didn't thicken though, I know that much.

Keto also makes my hair either really dry or frizzy to the point where I can hardly put a comb in it. It always gets touted as the big 3 to solving hair loss but I am not so sure if it is really all that necessary to treat hair loss. I guess it can help if you have that male pattern baldness itch or an irritated or inflamed scalp. I don't think that Keto is really going to make the difference between keeping your hair and going bald for most people but maybe it does for some people.

Ah, funny you mention the Regenpure conditioner. That was actually one of the conditioners I was thinking of using because I'm currently using the Regenpure shampoo. At least with Regenpure products you know there isn't any sulphates, parabens ect in them but maybe I'll think twice after your advice.

Yeah, I agree Keto shampoos aren't the most important treatment for hair loss and certainly won't do much on their own however there is some evidence that they can regrow some of your hair especially when used in conjunction with finasteride. At the very least Keto shampoos are just about the best treatment you can get for inflammation and dandruff.

I use a generic 2% ketoconazole shampoo that I feel has drastically improved hair loss for me but it makes my hair dry, so what I do is use conditioner on the bottom two thirds of my hair whenever I wash my hair and also a light weight leave in conditioner from L'oreal (I'm a female with medium length hair) and once a week I use oils (Castor, lavender and peppermint) and leave it in my roots for 3 hours and I wash it out, I feel like it softens my roots and moisturizes them, but oils on the rest of my hair tends to make no difference. Or you can find a hair mask that has no silicones or parabens and use it all over your hair and wash it out very well, it wouldn't leave residue or build-up on your follicles like the masks with silicones do so I think it's safe to use on hair roots. To know if a product has silicones just look for ingredients ending with -cone

My hair is long so I do use conditioner,
You could use a conditioner maybe try lightly at first so your hair does not look too 'fine' the conditioners can sometimes make my roots look too separated so i keep it on my ends . If you hair is short just use less than directed. If your hair is long keep it on ends or start farther back on head so your hair line is not effected cosmetically. (depends how bad hair loss is--mine can look sparse in front hair line if too conditioned)
Also get a light formula or one for men if your hair is on short side.
OR you can try 'mask' which is a conditioning treatment and just do it 1 or 2 x a week for repair.
Some people make them even from home stuff like avocado, mayonnaise, olive oil.
