My doctor seems to think I'm not balding although I believe I am. How safe is taking Finasteride as a 21yo as prevention?
Great, I'll try to get my hands on it, by the way, do you think I can see regrowth in my temples if I start taking them right now?You should be fine taking it at 21, I went to my doctor at 19 about hair loss and he said it was fine just by looking at it but I lost quite a lot of density over 2 years in the temples and got on finasteride at 21.
and do you recommend 1mg/day or 0.5mg/day?You should be fine taking it at 21, I went to my doctor at 19 about hair loss and he said it was fine just by looking at it but I lost quite a lot of density over 2 years in the temples and got on finasteride at 21.
Finasteride is different for everyone. Some people get massive regrowth, some maintain their hair and some still lose hair. I've been on it for nearly a year and it looks like it has maintained my hair so far. I started on 1mg and have no side effects.Great, I'll try to get my hands on it, by the way, do you think I can see regrowth in my temples if I start taking them right now?
f***, hopefully it regrows or maintains when I get it. I can easly hide my temples if I comb my hair well if it's maintained. Thanks for the advice.Finasteride is different for everyone. Maybe I'm coping but I'm NW1.5NW2.5
Impossible question to answer. For some (apparently) there are no side. For some including myself there are very bad side effects. It also works well for some, or not at all for others. My doctor seems to think I'm not balding although I believe I am. How safe is taking Finasteride as a 21yo as prevention?
I doubt that's what will happen. Stopping Finasteride will just make the body go to its regular hormonal levels, it won't magically increase DHT more than it was before Finasteride. The issue with taking for prevention - if you do take for a few months, then have side effects, stopping it might actually kick start male pattern baldness as your literally messing with your hormones.
Well,i took It at 21,8 months ago.My doctor seems to think I'm not balding although I believe I am. How safe is taking Finasteride as a 21yo as prevention?
Exactly, even if I'm not balding right now I would like to keep my hair as it is now for a couple decades if possible. Those guys telling you finasteride will make it worst are just resented baldy's or people who were so genetically subhuman that finasteride gave them side effects.Well,i took It at 21,8 months ago.
I was told by some users that i had bdd,"you are nw1,not balding",not taking into account my family history. My 33yo Brother is a NW3A,my dad had diffuse thinning.
I was told by some Low iq apes as well that taking finasteride as a prevention would accelerate the process and make my hair worse, and f*** up my hormones.
Funny thing they didnt show me scientific evidence, sources or any data,so they were probably fear moggering me without any embasament.
Unless you have the balding gene, I wouldn't take it until you have some miniaturization starting. My doctor seems to think I'm not balding although I believe I am. How safe is taking Finasteride as a 21yo as prevention?
I do think my temples are miniaturized since they’re very thin, I don’t know if it’s genetic (i: normal hairline) but I doubt it.Unless you have the balding gene, I wouldn't take it until you have some miniaturization starting.
If mine looked like that I would be using finasteride.I do think my temples are miniaturized since they’re very thin, I don’t know if it’s genetic (i: normal hairline) but I doubt it.

What do you think?
Irregular hairline = baldingI think you have an irregular hairline like me.
Yeah thought so, f*** the family doctor that said it's "normal" by just running her fingers through my temples. Funny thing is that I did the checkup 2 years ago. Thankfully I took pictures 2 years ago and I don't see much of a difference, but it's better to be safe than sorry, specially since I'm a bit older now.If mine liked like that I would be using finasteride.
Not necessarily, but it does make your balding more obviousIrregular hairline = balding
