I took finasteride every other day for around 6 months with no positive outcome. originally when i started taking it i took it everyday and experienced an itch in the receding areas and accelerated receding that i never had before.

Recently i started back on Finasteride every day because i wasn't sure taking it every other day was doing much. and i am experience an itch again... its abit less often now though compared to when i first started.

I have a fair amount more hair when i first started finasteride so the overall results are kinda depressing. although i am also using spectral.dnc.n which might be given me a shed but the itch is definitely finasteride

I don't think i have hyperandrogenicity because i have no acne, skin is fairly dry, libido is about average.

Is it time to stop finasteride? my hair has appeared abit darker or a tiny bit thicker recently (unless thats a sign of greasy hair?) since switching to every day but i ain't totally sure whether finasteride did that as i'm still watching my hairline diminish by the day. I'm worried finasteride might be making my scalp more sensitive to androgens.

I don't know. I been sparingly using topical spironolactone 2% also but that may not he strong enough to replace finasteride.

RU is expensive and when I spent a lot of it money for it I got chest pains from it and even though it could be down to the vehicle used I dunno if I wanna risk paying out a lot for a different one just to see whether I will get chest pains again.

I do have some dutasteride but I dunno whether it's worth trying as if it turns out finasteride is speeding up my loss due to making the scalp more sensitive then I dunno whether duta would be any different

So yeah I dunno :(

I guess...:( its just a tough decision to make.

i been holding out hope this itch is just shedding but i really think its DHT related, which is something i never had before Finasteride.. and if thats the case i guess finasteride is either not working or i am having an immune response to it thats somehow making it worse.

I've been taking Finasteride for over 10 years and I personally don't believe that the itch is because of it or else I would of noticed it. I've gotten an itchy, irritated scalp from a pomade that I used. I couldn't sleep it was so bad. I boiled water in a bowl in the microwave. I then put some organic olive oil in a small glass bottle, then put the bottle it in the water until the oil heated up (I think it took 5-10 minutes to warm up). I completely covered my scalp and hair in the oil and put on a shower cap. All I remember is going right to bed after and washing it out in the morning with shampoo. If you try this and it helps then look at my EO regiment in my profile.
