Is Switching From Finasteride To Dutasteride A Good Idea?

As a lot of you know, ive been on finasteride for a little over 5 months and I’m still experiencing rapid loss.

Would it be a good idea to switch to dutasteride now or wait a bit longer?

How should I make the switch? (Slowly get off finasteride while introducing dutasteride or just trade off completely)

Any stories of this being beneficial?

I would give 1 year at least to finasteride..than if you are not happy with the results switch to 0,5mg ed duta..there is no reason to slowly get off from finasteride, the dht inihbition in the first 2 weeks is 89/90 % vs 70 from 1mg finas

I can tell you that two men in my family made the switch to dutasteride, but only after 6-8 years on finasteride. One of them has maintained amazingly, the other not so much. If you switch now, you'll miss that 'golden window', I guess it's somewhere about 6-12 months when the magic happens with finasteride, or so I hear. This is what I keep telling myself as my hair continues to get worse with finasteride.

There’s no way finasteride is gonna bounce my hair back to how it was at baseline, I literally have fluff in my crown now.

The prudent way to go about this would be to wait a year to see what finasteride does and assess from there... but I mean for what it’s worth, Ashton Kutcher was on dutasteride for like a decade when he was super young like early 20s. Studies also show it to be superior in lowering DHT and increasing hair growth

I wanna see some personal stories of people actually switching to dutasteride and having some growth but I can’t find any

I’m also interested in adding duta once a week to finasteride but I’m afraid it would make things worse.
I guess the rational thing would be to give finasteride a year, I’m just not sure my hair can afford to wait that long.

It seems that there is a large group of us having this exact dilemma. That is, finasteride users who are watching their hair continue to thin/shed and wondering whether waiting 12 months is actually the right move. Perhaps we take a pseudo scientific approach and divide us into two groups: group 1 stays the course with finasteride; group two transitions to dutasteride while phasing out finasteride.

I’d be part of the switch group because what I’m doing is simply not working. I think almost 6 months on finasteride, my shedding should be significantly decreased when it’s really not..

Honestly think you need at least a year to make an assessment. People I notice that have bad results always switch sh*t around. Give it a year, then add dutasteride if you want.

As for stories of users, what does that even matter? It's like asking if you should take finasteride, everyone is different. You won't find out till you do it .

Stories give hope. And if someone doesn’t respond to finasteride but responds to dutasteride I may fit in that category.

As a lot of people say, you have to give Finasteride time, nothing happens overnight and 5 months is nothing.

One problem on this forum is that you read about people with incredible results after 2 months, these super responders is not good to compare yourself to and a lot of them seem like fake. Hair growths 1cm/month and some seems to have a complete regrowth in 2 months with 3 centimeters growth (impossible).

I had limited success but it has taken 8 months, and the first 4-5 months was more or less no change at all.

Take your tablet, stick to your regime and dont change to something you think might be better, that ruins the 5 months that you invested in Finesteride.

Put a smile on your face, woman likes a smile a lot more than loads of hair:)
