Is The "bald" Concept Supposed To Be Funny In Ads?

At second 23.

In the Churchill insurance advertisement, one tyre to the other: "I didn't know you had gone bald"

I wonder why the "bald" concept is considered funny (or even somehow endearing?)

first of all, this is just a horrible ad. who creates this crap? We all are well aware that there is absolutely no sympathy for men with Androgenetic Alopecia, none. I don't know if it's different outside of the United States, but I doubt it. I have talked to so many people about how this disease mentally plagues me. aside from this forum, there is one man that understands and only because he is mentally suffering like myself, and open to discuss. You have those two factors, and yes, you will get sympathy and an open ear. There will never be a woman in your life that will give you sympathy, because they don't possess these two factors. 90% of men will not give you it, not because they don't have Androgenetic Alopecia, but because they are not open to discuss. It's a stigma that we have to man up and simply face everything. Gaining weight? Try having an emotional conversation about this being a man. Being a woman? Sure, you will get all ears open. Losing hair? Hell, if you're a woman and you accidentally dye your beautiful thick hair the wrong color, flocks of women will be crying at your feet with sympathy. You're a man? You disfigure yourself with a hair transplant, then lose what you have left and the entire top of your scalp looks weird as hell? "dude, just shave it"..."own it"..."wear a hat"... "here's a picture of a man with alopecia areata, look you don't have it that bad". F*cking hypocrites. The whole lot of them.

Wait ..have a Stop at this please.

Baldness should never be treated as less in men..
But if a tyre is bald..its so dangerous.

One can easily lose a life.

I once drived a two wheler Honda Activa whose tyre were bald..
And i was about to fall on road many times.

It's super hypoctitical that it's socially acceptable to mock people for baldness while there's this huge movement against "fat shaming." I get it, everybody's body is different, and many people have different factors affecting why it can be difficult to lose weight, but it's still arguably a trait people have much more control over than Androgenetic Alopecia.

If you comment on an overweight person's body, you're insensitive. Yet somehow commercials calling out people for balding, a physical trait over which those who suffer from it have little to no control, are accepted and celebrated by the culture.

Correct. In this day and age, I can think of no other physical "distinctive" mark that can be (and will be) publicly shamed.
I daresay baldness is mocked even more now that all the other physical differences cannot be commented upon at the risk of sounding political incorrect.

Before he lost it, they were hammering on me: "Fred, it's only hair, you don't dare to go out because of that?! You're a pussy and wasting your youth!"

When he didn't dear to go out for a whole year because of his bald patches: "Oh it's not his hair, he just likes to stay inside! At least he won't get mixed up with bad people."

That's called disrespect.
