I’ve been thinking about the age of guys that go bald. Would a heavy balding man be more likely to start losing hair in early years(17 -22 ect) ? Or can it just suddenly hit at any age?

Example 40 and haven’t started balding but family has history of balding from father and brother from early 20s to now completely bald.

It does seem that there is a correlation between the age you start balding at, and the aggressiveness of the loss - that the sooner you start, the faster you will lose. However, there are many cases where hair loss starts much later in life and also progresses rapidly. If you're 40 and haven't started losing then I wouldn't worry too much; just be sure to monitor closely given your familiy history.

Thanks for that. It does baffle me that my family history has balding so early, but some of us haven’t. But, as you say it may come one day!!!

There isn't. If you have the genes for it , it can happen whenever. It can be triggered early from trauma/high stress events in life. Something like severe insomnia for 3 or months can trigger it. Or death of a loved one, high stress work environment, etc.....

Thanks for the response. I guess it doesn't really matter what age, just depends when and if it happens.
