Dude, thats no so bad...I lose much more than that..
Infact I started finasteride today, to see if I have MBP or not...prolly do tho...
finasteride should stop the shed....if it doesnt then its the IRON.
I dont eat any meats and get a lil Iron...so will see.
If finasteride doesnt stop the shed.....then I'll stop using it..

start taking dutasteride mate
before you regret it!

Thanks for the post, was it intended to scare the newbie into doing something he most probably doesn't need to and shouldn't do without giving finasteride a heck of a lot more than 7 weeks? Are you a dutasteride salesman?

Why the hell would you accuse him of this? maybe you're a finasteride salesman? balu is a valued member of this community, has been for longer than you, and wants people to try dutasteride because it gives a lot more regrowth than finasteride and becuase it provides better maintenance.

why would he encourage him to get on dutasteride if he was a salesman? he didn't advertise any website to get it from, and never has. there's no money to be made by him. your post was lame.

you also showed that you didn't read the post from this comment:

giving finasteride a heck of a lot more than 7 weeks

the OP hasn't tried finasteride yet. he's been on minoxidil for 7 weeks, and said he was considering giving finasteride a try because of the shedding.

again, very lame post by you. which is disappointing because you normally make good posts. but all you did here was drag the thread off-topic and point the finger at balu, who made a perfectly legitimate suggestion.

rock on, balu.

thanks for your post jayman.

I'm just recommending dutasteride because I was on finasteride for about 9 months without any success, my hair status became worse. Now I'm on dutasteride for 2 1/2 months, itching stopped and the usual shedding on dutasteride seems to stop as well.
I had some side effects at the beginning but all of them disappeard!
because of the shedding I've currently my worst hair status ever.
but I'm VERY confident that they'll regrow!

but on the other side I read nearly everything about dutasteride on the internet in german and english and I really can say: it is a save drug and MUCH more effective than finasteride.

and to come back to aibo82:

I don't want you to get into panic but I'm quite sure with your current speed of hairloss you'll get completly balded at the top in about a year if you only stick on minoxidil. (considering your age and amount of hair loss)
[I also think that strong hairloss in the first 20s is a sign for very very sensitive hairs to Dihydrotestosterone and that's another reason we need the best weapon = dutasteride]

I'm 22 (so 2 years younger than you) and have a slightly better hair status than you have. But because of we're still young we both have BEST chances of regrowth on dutas.

p.s.: I took a photo of my hair status yesterday and will post a success story in about 6 or 9 months.

Well it just seemed to be very, very premature. The guy's only been on finasteride 7 weeks, which is way too few to possibly be seeing any positive results, and this guy responds with what was essentially "whoop, you better hurry up and switch to dutasteride, it's clear it's not working, you're going to go bald if you don't!" There's not any reason to switch to it until you know finasteride isn't working, I'd say, especially since most doctors agree that it isn't nearly as proven to be safe, not to mention the hairlosshelp forum all thinks it works LESS well. Use it if you want, but don't try and encourage those who don't know that they'll get good results on finasteride yet to switch to it, it's irresponsible.

I think it's funny that anyone would think someone from Merck or GSK would waste their time on this board trying to sell 30 pills at a time. LOL!

again, barnabas, great job. a total lack of reading comprehension, exhibited once again. this is why teachers tell students not to skim readings. THE OP is NOT on finasteride. He is on minoxidil. He is CONSIDERING finasteride. Comprendes?
Do you understand? Is this too difficult for you, Stansfield?

See, was that so hard? Just read the post, word by word, letter by letter.

Now you'll probably respond to this to say that I'm proving your point and strengthening your argument. Why try dutasteride if he hasn't tried finasteride yet, right? Sorry, but you just forfeited your right to participate in intelligent discussion in this thread.

anyone who is balding should give finasteride or dutasteride a try. none of the stuff you are on will block 5ar to inhibit DHT.

I only exhibited it once, as after the initial post I didn't bother rereading the topic, as I figured I'd gotten it right the first time. :p I did read minoxidil as finasteride for some reason since I've seen the two words so many times my head is starting to spin. But, thanks for being a dick about it.
