If you want Propecia to maintain your hair, you know it's working if it's...

...maintaining your hair.

I'm not sure what other kind of answer you could possibly be hoping for.

If you are losing or hair and you know you are losing your hair, and then you start taking Propecia/Proscar.

Then 1 year later

You have the same hair as when you started then you can say you have kept your hair.

propecia can stop hairloss, look for signs like your hairloss has stopped.

If you have more hair than brain then that is another good indicator.

TynanW said it, but let me add on: I was certain that I was losing my hair because I looked at my pillow in the morning, and saw anywhere from 30-60 hairs. Then, 3.5 months after being on propecia, I saw only 10. Then, a few weeks later, I saw only a few.

It isn't a good thing to keep counting your hairs, but it doesn't hurt to monitor once every week or two for the progress you are looking for, which is proof of maintenance.

Good luck.
