And I haven't had a SMOKE!!!

I quit cold turkey and even though I have almost broken down like 100 times, I'm trying my best.

The cravings are less and less though...

:smoke: :smoke: :smoke: :smoke: <---- NOT ME

Now I will grow an afro...

... in my dreams.

The only thing that comes from smoking is bad things, just realize this. The sh*t stinks, your clothes stink, your breath stinks the teeth turn yellow, your lungs fall out, your arteries get clogged, your heart gets congested etc etc etc.....

I quite over a year ago after 17 years and I feel 10x better, if you have to smoke something smoke a California blunt.

Ah yes... Bomb, great job.

Bomb, I remember my days when I quit smoking. Smoking is like that b**ch ex girlfriend who ruins your life makes you waste your money on her and makes you feel like sh*t, but she has that hot bod and great pussy that keeps you coming back to her. When you finally build up the courage to throw her *** out of your life, after a day or so you start missing the sex... and forget about how much she messes up your broader life.

Bomb, smoking is like that. It is an evil b**ch. And you know you really don't want to be with her anymore, but with smoking as with girlfriends, breaking up is hard to do. Be firm with her, no phone calls, don't think about her, and if you start to get a craving for her then remember how much damage she did to your life.

Bomb, smoking is a TERRIBLE habit. That's why so many people have quit it, and why deaths from emphysema and cancer have gone down in recent years. That sh*t will KILL you. Not only that, but when you think about it, it really does not add anything to your life? You can do the same things after smoking as you did before smoking and in time (you are almost there!) you will get the same enjoyment from them as you did while you were smoking. I know you don't believe it right now, but that's the drugs talking to you, not reality. It WILL get easier, soon! A LOT easier. Believe me, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, just stay patient and just stay the course for now. You will thank yourself.

I never smoke cigs(just couldnt develop a taste for them) but I've had struggles with drug addiction which I've been free of for several years.

The girlfriend analogy is a good one. I like the term "playing the tape all the way through" When you are tempted to go back to a bad habit and you get that "euphoric recall" that tries to convince you to do it - just "play the tape to the end" in your mind and realize what that habit will do to you in the end.

Works for me in my moments of weakness :)

Bombscience, you really do need to quit. Just give it up.

I am an ex-smoker. I LOVE cigarettes, and although I smoked Marlboro lights I LOVE Marlboro reds. I love them!

But loving something or wanting it has nothing to do with whether or not you decide to do it every day. I mean, I love the feeling of my dick getting hard and whacking off but you will not see me doing this every day and especially not in public!

You need to decide if you are going to be a man, or an animal. I know you don't whack off in public every day because there is that little voice inside of you that says "hey, don't do that, it is NOT a good thing for you to do!" Same with smoking. That little voice inside you who knows better, who knows that you HATE being addicted, who is SICK of wasting money on nicotine, who EVERY DAY wishes you could wake up a non smoker... that voice.. it is time to listen to it.

And I am going to break the general thinking on this issue, and give you a bit of advice from someone who has been down the quit smoking road successfully. Once you decide that you really don't want to smoke, quitting smoking, really, was easy for me. I failed about 500 times at it, cheated, etc. But the first time when I really decided to give myself an honest experience at what life is like for a non-smoker, it was SO easy to quit. Bomb, after 2 weeks it is ALL mental. You can do it.

Please, as an ex-smoker, please please take my word for it. Quitting smoking was f*****g gloriously wonderful for me. Once I got over the fact that holy sh*t, I'm not smoking anymore I need a smoke to celebrate it and said "nah!" I realized that living without nicotine was not only easy, but f*****g fantastic. Life returned to normal. People do it every day. The act of quitting is HARD, I know it is. But you can do it, because I know you WANT to quit. That is all it takes. The clean life you want is right there on the tip of your fingers. All it takes is the firm decision to go for it, and then it is all gravy buddy. Just make that decision. You will be glad, and then some. And now everybody comments on how young I look, keeps asking me 'what I did' to look so young all of a sudden? I'm telling you, just quit, and stick with it for a while, and you'll realize what a fool you have been and suddenly feel like a god.

Best wishes

Bomb I am trying to do this as well.

I have stopped smoking twice and started again under stress not to long ago.

Cold Turkey is the only way to go. Slowing down is BS. Right now I am at 10 days. We'll see how it goes. The biggest key is if you fail and smoke again, to dust yourself off and go at it again ASAP and not be to hard on yourself.

Ah NorCal and Cassin.... don't be down-talking the heroin. Developing my heroin habit was the key to my success at quitting smoking! Completely forgot all about it... well, more like way to lazy to venture into the bright light to buy cigarettes.

Kidding of course. Really, you CAN quit smoking! It can be done, has been done, and millions of people out there have done it. BELIEVE ME, you will always love cigarettes, but if you really get into the non-smoking lifestyle and really indoctrinate yourself to GIVE BEING A NON-SMOKER a chance then you will reach the point I reached where I realized that I was f*****g unbelieveably happy with not being a smoker and glad I quit.

I must say, that for about a good year after that I continued to get cravings, continued to have moments where I thought oh god a cigarette would be just f*****g perfect right now. BUT, for me personally, I reached the point after about a month or so where completely ignoring these cravings and just moving on past that moment became easy as cake. Then I realized how f*****g free I was, and also started realizing that I had a LOT of extra cash around. Best month of my life, and NO looking back.

At that point, I realized that it was really only hard for the first few weeks, after that, it really was easy but because the drugs were talking to me it seemed hard. When you get the cravings and hear the call of the nicotine, ignore it. It will lie to you, and afterwards you will realize it. You'll love being a non-smoker, I feel 10 years younger and thank god I put up with the early troubles to get here. I know you'll do it.
