Hello,

I'm a 32 year old guy that moved to the States a little over a year ago from South America. Ever since moving here I've been experiencing hairloss, which prompted me to seek the help of a dermatology. He said I had male pattern baldness (which isn't surprising because my father is bald) but another thing that came with the hairloss was an itchy scalp, which it didn't go away after starting to take finasteride and washing my hair with nizoral. I experience itching sensation every once in a while, but I can feel a slight tinge on top of my hair nearly all the time.

Funny thing is when I return to my country, the tinge is gone. I was back home in January for two weeks and not one day did I experience any itching sensations. Something else happened: I started to shed all these huge chunks of what looked like buildup of dandruff for at least two days straight. I've never seen something like that in my life on my hair, never had I suffered before from dandruff. Some of these were so big that they included miniaturized hairs with them. After a couple of days my hair looks completely clean and healthy, like it did when I was a teen.

Any idea what could be causing this? I don't think it's just the difference in water but I cannot think for the life of me why I experience these things in one place and not the other.

How humid is it where you used to live and how humid is it where you live now? the only area that is really humid in the U.S is Florida and then then midwest/eastern states during the summer. Maybe where you live it's dry heat or not very humid and so it's drying your scalp and hair out.

drink more water and start going to saunas is all I can think of.

It happens in the UK as well, In the North we have plenty of water in reservoirs its fresh and unpolluted. You go to London and the southern regions you are getting mainly river water coming out the taps. It could be that they are adding more chlorine to make it drinkable.
