Hi everyone. I'm 25 years old and have noticed my hair thinning for the last couple of years; I never did anything because it wasn't really noticeable. However, I have lost A LOT of hair in the last 1-2 months and need to do something about it. My dad is bald and both grandparents are bald, so I always knew it would happen to me. The weird thing is that I always had a very thick head of hair...and I do mean very thick.

Anyway, I was hoping you guys could take a look at the pictures and give me some advise. I don't want to take any pills that will mess with my hormones, so I'm really thinking about Rogaine.

you have a decision to make take propecia and perhaps have 5 years of your current hair or don't take propecia and go bald,simple as that you may go bald with propecia but yopu will almost defintley go bald without it.
Sorry to be blunt but regaine on its own is not the anwser.

If you have lost a lot of hair recently after a progression of thinning over some years, that could suggest an acceleration in your MBP... which, if left untreated could turn bad in a few short years. The fact you have very thick hair could also mean you have been losing it for longer than you realise.

Rogaine would be a good start, is easy to use and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. However, Rogaine will only grow some of the hair back, while your MBP continues to advance. Finasteride (Proscar, Propecia) is a proven DHT inhibitor, which will stop the further depreciation of hair. It is fairly easily available and is widely used with much success. There is a very small percentage of side effects (not severe ones), which you can research on this forum or other websites.

I cannot advise you to do this if you do not want to. You have to make that decision yourself. Your hair looks pretty good still, but you may want to jump on the bandwagon before it becomes a huge problem. If you are concerned about side effects and such, I suggest consulting a doctor or specialist.

I appreciate the responses. I have been researching a lot on the treatments, mostly on sites like this.

One other reason I never tried Rogaine before is because of the shedding. For those of you on Rogaine, what percentage of your hair would you say you lost (on the initial shedding, before you got it back)? 30%...50%...? Obviously now I wish I would have done it sooner, since the shedding took place anyway.

I understand what Propecia does, but reading some of the horror stories on here about side effects, the drug just kinda turns me off. Also on the initial shedding of Propecia, what percentage of your hair would you say you lost?

I really do appreciate all the help, guys. I'm trying to schedule an appointment with my doctor to see what my choices are. Let me know if you need better pictures...I realize these aren't very good. Thanks.

nobody can give you a confirmed answer, everyone reacts to treatments differently.

Most times shedding cannot be reflected in the mirror, just on the amount of hairs you see on your comb, towel, pillow etc. It does not change drastically the appearance of your hair, it's just new hairs pushing the old ones! Don't worry about it

p.s. You need propecia combined with rogaine foam

get on propecia... the stuff works soooo good. The sides go away after a few months... plus the sides are decreased libido... however if you lose your hair you will have to resort to fat chicks anyway which will also decrease you libido. :freaked2:

You know, most people would say or think that. But to be honest, most females and I mean MOST females could give two *craps* less. Some people look better with the bald look. You'd be surprised how many bald dudes I know that pull off a hot chick. It's all about confidence.... but for most guys, having hair brings confidence. So that's why most bald guys can't get girls. 8)

You have a point, but I am sure chicks will love a guy with nice hair than a balding guy given that other status are the same for both of the guys.

I saw a bald dude with shaved head with a HOT blonde chick at the resturant the other day. Then again, he is a bodybuilder, he is like twice of my size.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I will talk to the doctor about propecia. As far as the woman thing is concerned, I better take advantage of it now before I lose my hair or I can't get it up anymore....or both....

Majority of guys looks better with hair though.
