im new here and ive made a few posts but i guess this forum link is the right place to actually tell the story.

been losing for 2 yrs since i was 18, mostly receding hair line, my dad convinced me not use propecia due to side effects, and i was allergic to generic rogaine so i sortof ignored the issue.

in past 6 months i diffuse thinned all over the top so now you can see the "cul-de-sac" around. i started propecia last week with special minoxidil from a doctor that has a different ingredient im not allergic to. i really dont know how im gonna go back to college in the fall, esp since im gonna be living in a fraternity house where people are less than kind to things like this.

i guess theres nothing to do now but wait, maybe in 12 months ill see some improvement, if so I'll consider hair transplant then. i think ill take pics every week to see how things change, for the better or worse.

what bothers me the most is that im so young. if this happened in 5, 10, 15 yrs i think id be less depressed about it.

Yeah, you're pretty young....22 here so I can relate, especially when you say it wouldn't really be a problem if it started happening a decade later. If you look around at your peers, you'll see that a lot of guys our age have some sort of male pattern baldness.

Just do what you can to fight it, and anybody who makes fun of you is wrong. And since you're staying at a frat, try to avoid smoking weed...it has DHT in it and will only speed up your hair loss process.

No joke. After I found out, I can't even touch the stuff anymore.

Just take xanax or valium if you wanna chill out.

hairline started receeding 2 yrs ago, I didn't think anything of it cuz it wasn't so serious. Didn't take propecia b/c I thought id get sideeffects (stupid me).

This January, I still had a full head of hair. Now, I think I'm an NW6 if you don't count the diffuse thinning. Started Propecia and Rogaine last week.

wow you really lost alot of hair in the last 7 or so months.

Did you have your blood tested just to make sure it wasn't anything else causing the hairloss?

Ya, no sh*t I did, my diet hasn't really changed though or anything else, maybe a little more stress this past year, but thats it. do you guys really think I should get a blood test?

might aswel get a blood test but chances are they wont find anything. let us know tho! um, also, stress doesnt cause extensive hairloss that u wud notice unless it is serious chronic stress which has lasted months. i think that shits a bit of a myth as ud lose hair from all over.

armani quote

I just got a quote from Dr. Armani for about 5800 grafts, costing about $16,000.

I'm not planning on getting surgery until I've been on meds for a year, but still, thats alot of money and alot of grafts. I'm pretty sure I could bargain him down though. I was worried that he just threw a quote out there though, without asking questions.

I know I'm not getting surgery any time soon, but what do you guys think?

One more thing...I was on generic propecia for about 4 days last summer before quitting until last week. Do you think that starting for a little then quitting might have actually triggered more DHT to be released into my system, hence the huge shedding over the past year?

as always, the more advise the better

no it wudnt of triggered anything mate. i wudnt get a hair transplant until years of treatment maybe. also, with hair cloning jus round the corner, i wudnt choose an operation which leaves scars either. hair cloning will not leave scars.
