Geez, my life has been turned upside down by losing my hair! I'm a 21 year old college student and began noticing my hairloss around september of 2001, when I looked in the mirror one morning only to see thinning in the upper right corner of my hairline. I thought about it all the time, yet continued to style my hair the same way using gels and sprays that I'd been using all through high school. I began actually using propecia a few months later in January 2002 and have been using it fairly consistently, only missing isolated days and weeks for 2 yrs now. However it unfortunately has not stopped my hair loss or really regrown any noticeable hair. Anyways, frustration about my hairloss caused me to do the most rash and stupid thing I've ever done -- GET A HAIR TRANSPLANT when I'd only really lost noticeable hair in my right hairline. The bastards at Bosley manipulated me and brainwashed me into getting 600 grafts where hairs were grafted to my front hairline and left hairline. The result is an unnatural, deformed hairline where the hairs are not close together or uniform, but rather look like leg or arm arm hairs randomly distributed at my hairline. Bosley also failed to inform me how hideous u look for nearly a week and half after a hair transplant, with all the scars and scabs on your head. I could go on and on about how I was screwed by those false advertising con-artists at Bosley, but I just urge everyone to not pay attention to those infomercials, and just accept that hair transplants are BS! Stay away from them!
As for right now, I'm still taking Propecia, started using rogaine and use Nizoral shampoo and Progaine for thickness. I stopped using gels and sprays a while ago cause they really only make the problem worse. I wear my hair real short now and pushed forward so from a distance it looks like I just have short hair. Up close people can see my deformed hairline and the thinness which has just started to occur in the back of my head, where a small bald spot's occurred. I'm just reading stuff on this site, looking for that one product that's finally gonna work and hopefully let me keep my hair for a while longer!
