Jigg's story

Hey all, here's my deal. When I was around 19 it was pointed out to me that my hair was thinning on the vertex and I was developing a small bald spot. I got a prescription for Propecia from my doctor but my parents didn't like me using it because of the side effects (ummm, awkward) so I switched to Minoxidil. The hair stopped falling out pretty quickly and soon it all looked normal again. I used it for about 2 years and then noticed that my hairline was starting to recede. Regular minoxidil didn't seem to be the right cure so I switched to Spectral DNC. However, the increased amount of penetrance was causing me to have heart palpitations (I think) and dizziness, so I totally stopped using all minoxidil products.

Now I am 24 and the regression has proceeded until I am around a 2 on the Norwood scale, getting closer to 2a but the hair in the front seems pretty thick still. It hadn't really bothered me until I started noticing it so I'd like to try one of the different treatments. My crown also appears to be losing hair again although I must say not as much comes out in the shower as it used to.

Right now my budget is fairly limited but I can still afford most of the products posted around here, as long as I only get 1 or maybe 2. I am a little skeptical of using Avodart because of the side effects but I would definitely be willing if most people think it's a good choice. Tricomin and Revivogen are the other choices that I am considering because they have come pretty highly recommended, although revivogen seems to be hit or miss. If I had a choice based purely on convenience, I probably like Tricomin because it seems easiest to apply. I am much more concerned with halting my hair loss (and the recession) than regrowth, as it still looks pretty decent, although regrowth would be a plus. Thanks for any help you can give me.

EDIT: What I would like is something that can maintain what I have as quickly as possible so I don't lose more, then I can worry about trying to fill it out again if I so choose.

Nizoral is pretty cheap. It's one of the top 3. Sinc eyou can't take the other two, at least use that. The rest in the list are topicals. NANO shampoo is also pretty good. Whatever you choose though, give it time to work just like everyone says.

1. Nizoral Shampoo
2. NANO Shampoo
3. Prox-N
4. spironolactone
5. Revivogen

1. You are an adult, who cares what your parents think jiggy.

2. Why... are your parents obsessed with your ding dong?

LOL I was trying to be funny. This was when I was 19 as well and in college, so quite a bit more dependent on them. How about some advice?

That's not a bad idea to think about going back on minoxidil. Try a different minoxidil formulation, perhaps the foam. You could also limit how much you are applying to your scalp. I personally started off using 1ml of Spectral.DNC only on the front portion and temples, but got wicked a$$ headaches. Since then I've dropped to less than 0.5ml and the headaches slowly went away. This could be that I'm getting used to it or the lower amount I'm using. Either way, it's ok now.
