is that the amount of hair transplant you need as a norwood 5/6 guy that he is?

how is that possible though (regarding donor)

It was possible because he had great scalp laxity which was able to generate repeated strip surgeries. Plus he went to a fantastic clinic (Hasson & Wong) after his first 2 botched procedures.

This is the one area (high norwood + great scalp laxity) where FUT actually trumps FUE

By the way, Joe's a lightweight..........I've had more procedures than him.

And yet it doesn't look that good
Cobblers. You're making the mistake of judging his hair in absolute terms instead of where he came from:-

1. He never had stellar hair in the first place.......he had thin fine wimpy hair as a young adult.
2. His first two transplants were botched pluggy procedures with low yield and unnatural results. A lot of his subsequent procedures were to repair the earlier botched work.
3. To go from a Norwood 5/6 with a decimated scarred donor area to where he is today is not only a fantastic achievement - but also a great testament to the skills of Hasson & Wong.

The two first ones were butchered ones, then there were three proper ones iirc, and the rest were small and experimental ones.

I watched a video about his first 9. Basically his first 3-4 were the majority of his grafts used. He had some minor work done after with like about 100 grafts from body hair and whatnot.

i thought numbers of follicles in donor area is most important?

how do laxity has an impact of the number of fut procedures?

Why do you guys always talk about Tillman. As he's an older dude when he started getting his transplants techniques weren't as advanced as they are today.

his result is the best norwood 5/6 result i have seen so far
Look into more results then. Every world class surgeon has way better results in their website. His hairline is too high, it's a good result for NW7 perhaps.. but not NW5-6. I'm NW6 and my transplanted hairline is basically NW1 level.

many guys can transplant the front at that stage but the crown remains bald. so i think its not a bad result

but ofc its nice if even better results are possible

Rather leave the crown 1/2 bald and have a lower hairline.

He looks good though, he's lucky that he can pull off the high hairline.

for his age his hairline is very acceptable

it should be at least enough hair left at the crown to fraud sufficient density with fiber imho. but i saw examples where the crown was left completely bald

btw why they dont transplant bodyhair at the crown, nobody will look closely at that region anyway

Well Tillman was basically NW7, so that combined with having had botched transplants before makes it a success imo.

So what style are we going for today, Beast Titan?

Eh, having to rely on fibers is shitty

But you're right that for his age it's fine. However I'm sure he had wasted a couple decades being balder than that and suffering. At least he finally made it to the point where his hair looks good for his age.

I'm not sure, I'm trying to study it myself.
