I got my haircut yesterday and I can't deny it any longer - my hairline is receding.

It's not terrible to the point that it's going to kill my confidence, but I want to start treating this early.

There isn't any serious baldness in my family. Every male on my fathers side has a full head of hair. On my mothers side, the worst I've seen is a norwood 3 on my grandpa, who is in his 60's.

I heard that working out can cause balding because it leads to excessive testosterone. Is that true?

What can I do to stop this? What works and what doesn't work?

Re: 18 Years Old and Receding Already (Pics)

It looks like a mature hairline. Unless you have thinning at the crown, I wouldn't do anything yet. But monitor it, or better yet ask your hairdresser to monitor it.

If you notice it thinning more, Finasteride is your best bet to prevent further hairloss

Hard to tell from those pics. But I wouldn't be suprised if it looked the same/similar in 5-10 years time.

If you do notice it getting worse by the months, Propecia is your best bet for keeping what you have.

You're not receding. You just don't have a straight hairline.

Watch the temples and see if they start thinning. It will be easy to tell if you keep your hair around that length.

It sounds like you'll probably be a NW3 in 40 years. You'd be crazy to take meds.

Most dudes my age have a straight hairline, if you don't have a straight hairline, doesn't that mean you're receding?

I've become obsessed with hairlines. I was watching TV last night and couldn't stray my attention from the men's hairlines, comparing mine to theirs. A few months ago, I didn't even consider any of this an issue.

I went through a litany of family photo albums searching for bald scalps. I found a bald guy and ran up to my mom, scared as hell, asking who he was, he wasn't a member of my family, but she thought it was hilarious that I think I'm going bald. My father is 44 and still has a full of head of hair, my hair has already receded past his.

I honestly think it could be my lifestyle, I've been working out excessively these past few months. My testosterone levels must be higher than normal.

it's nothing to do with your lifestyle. Trust me.

There's no rhyme or reason why some men bald and when and for how long and by how much, so looking at your family history is pointless.

Highly unlikely you'll be the first in your family to go bald. 95% percent of balding men are androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness), which is passed through your genes.

Your not receeding, your just going crazy.

yeah dont worry too much, it looks like a mature hairline to me, your chances of becoming anything past a nw3 are not very likely, i worry about my rounded hairline, and people are right, not everyone has a straight hairline.
