Try to forget about it and make something of yourself. Get back in school, get a career. Women are less shallow as you get older. If you have a great job and are a nice guy you will meet the right woman for you in time. Hang in there. sh*t seems worse when you're young.

I feel you man, I am your age too and going bald this young sucks, you should definitely try to make something of yourself and not let it affect you, hopefully we will all just stop caring about it.

You should at least try the meds, it sounds like you've got nothing to lose. You're story reminds me of me all I can say is I wish I'd had the option of real treatments at your age.

Man I can't tell you how much a lot of people will sympathise with you on this one. I started noticing my loss at about the same age, and by 21 had noticeable loss. Like you, I wasn't the best looking chap to begin with - so losing hair didn't help matters.

As others have said, there are treatments out there. As for your general life situation, the only thing I can think of is applying to uni. It'll get you out of your shell, expose you to new situations, and help you get a better job at the end of it.

Thank you for the nice replies, I was half expecting to get some harsh comments :)

Chin up lad, start looking to the future. Look into doing something you enjoy at university for instance. When I went to uni I started to forget about hair loss and focus more on socialising, studying and enjoying myself.

If moving away to uni isn't viable as a carer look to studying part time or maybe joining a club.

do the following (ideally all, whatever you can do is better than nothing though..you already know what doesnt work):

1: get on finasteride, if you cant get it up, then maybe stop (or no, you dont use it anyway but basically I'd say side effects are 99.99% in your mind and in any case, they go away when you stop)
2: go to a psychologist (this is far more important than #1, but that one is easier so it goes first)
3: do something different! this is really obvious but most serial complainers here fail to see it *. Could be going to a gym, playing a sport (better IMO, something you like doing) or just walking. whatever you do will work, because its obvious that what you are doing now doesnt work
* actually I think they are scared and just feel comfortable behind the lame excuses they make up
4: do some volunteer work, save whales, go walk orphan kids, doesnt really matter what it is, ideally something you like doing

and well, there are other things you can do but I dont feel like writing more, so start with these (you can also fill your time complaining here like many do, dudemon, hatprisioner etc, but that doesnt really work). Do small things, nothing will change right away, sorry, but the idea is to move in the right directioin, at whatever pace you can, nothing else will work

Hey man, like another poster said, there are many people here who will sympathize with you on this one. I just turned 20 and have been loosing my hair since I was 18. My advice is get on finasteride, if you get sides then get off. And do something about your mental state quickly. I spent the last 2-3 years in a state of depressed self loathing and pity, it hasn't left me with any beneficial traits and is quite frankly was a waste of my life. I know it is MUCH easier said then done.

Anyways, good luck man. The world may seem like a shitty place, and perhaps it is, but if you can carve out a little niche somewhere you may be able to find yourself in a state of content.

Also, post some pics, might not be as bad as you think.
