I've just found this forum, great read, has given me hope!

My hair is getting thinner by the day it seems, maybe it's my imagination i don't know but i was wondering what the difference between Fincar and Finpecia is? Apart from the price! Is it just the manufaturer of it, is one better then the other? Any answers would be grand

Cheers

Welcome! :)

Fincar is 5mg and Finpecia is 1mg.

You will need to split the Fincar into quarters (to get 1.25mg) or fifths (if you can!) to get the same dose. You take a quarter/fifth a day, as opposed to Finpecia, with which you take the whole pill.

Hope that helps :)

Hey MikeOnaBike,
hah, sweet name. Yeah, like Stampede said, they're the same active ingredient, and the same manufacturer. The only difference is that the higher dose (fincar, or Proscar) is used to treat BHP, a prostate condition, whereas the lower dose (finpecia) is used to treat male pattern baldness.

Wiki finasteride, and you can verify that. Fincar is good stuff, and I've used it. Just split it up. You save lots of $$$ just buying the fincar.

I thought fincar, finpecia and propecia where all meant to deal with male pattern baldness?

Fincar = Proscar, made for BPH.
Finpecia = Propecia, made for male pattern baldness.

Propecia is 1/5 the strength of Proscar.
