What's crackin' Just started this thing today. I've been noticing thinning for 1 yr. Think it's time to do something about it. Didn't bother me much for a long time, but now my hairs crap and can't style it, doesn't want to move around for me.
Have some strange scalp sensations doesn't feel too good sometimes. Starting to lose when I shower and comb hair. Anyways, looking for advice as to what to do, I haven't started using anything yet

First off, how old are you? What kind of hairloss do you have? Do you have any recession in the temples (high forehead) or in the back of your head (a bald spot)? Or, is your hair as we say here, have diffuse thinning... and if so, where is it worst? Does hair loss run in your family at all, and if it does, what are the hairloss patterns of your relatives?

The first thing I would recommend is a commitment to nutrition. Three meals a day with some balance. And Taco Bell, Mcdonalds, and KFC is not what I mean by balance. Get yourself on a good multivitamin. Quit smoking. Poor nutrition is reflected in your hair quality, as it is in your skin and nails. Do you have thin, brittle nails?... if so, then nutrition might be a significant contributing factor for you. Start some exercise while you are at it. Hair loss is a sign of ageing, and nutrition plus exercise are well documented ways of slowing ageing over and above any medical regimen you start.

Answer my questions, and I'm sure you will get all kinds of outstanding advice here.

And lastly, keep a good attitude about it. Don't let your hair become an obsession or you will end up wasting all of your free time indoors talking to us losers here instead of getting out there and getting some poontang.

Cheers!

I am 24, I've got some recessing in the temples and a little bald spot in back It looks to me that it's thinning throughout but mostly at the back. My old man is completely bald and so is his bro. All my dad's side is bald but all my moms side has hair. I'm probably too healthy for my own good, I eat right (because my fiance cooks) and lift weights and do enough cardio. I take a multivitamin but not sure if its good (CENTRUM). I don't smoke at all.
I'm not too worried about it, I've got the girl just want some hair on the wedding day after that I won't care too much. Shaved my head for years during sports in H.S. and college and the look works for me. When I go to the Doctor. should I ask him about my hair loss?

Sounds like male pattern baldness to me. Well, any regimen is comprised of the Big 3 as we call them.

1) A DHT Suppressor, such as Finasteride (aka Propecia) or Spirolactonone, or Alzeaic Acid in some specific products.
2) A Regrowth Agent, basically Minoxidil.
3) An anti-inflammatory, such as Nizoral shampoo.

I'd read up here, you will learn all you need to know. At your local store you can find Minoxidil (if you choose to use it, I recommend the 5% Extra Strength version), and 1% Nizoral. Or, there are many wholesale hair loss product websites where you can buy the stuff cheaper... some get a good deal on minoxidil at costco. I believe you need a prescription for Finasteride?

Everything else you see at the store in the same aisle as the minoxidil is all snake oil crap as far as my opinion goes. Stick with the big three above, they are what has been proven.

I would read the messages on the "products" board on this website, read up on them and see what people have to say about them.
