One thing i've unexpectedly learned from this site, is that both sexes are equally vain.
I used to believe that it was a female trait to be obsessed with unobservable details of our appearance and develop BDD.
But no...We both drown in the same insecurities.
Was it always like this?...or is it a trend of our era?
Is it some form of degeneration and effemination of the male?
One thing for sure:Our condition is pathetic.

It's pretty tough to tell from these pics. If that wispy hair in front of your hairline was your hairline this time last year then yes. It does look like your left side is worse which is common in male pattern baldness. Your Doctor will be able to tell you for sure. If so it's obviously horrible but I would trade anything to start balding in 2018 rather than 2004.

It's not "vain" to not want to be disfigured. Losing your hair isn't like getting some crows feet or even bad skin, it totally changes your appearance in a very negative way. It's not "effemination" (not a word) of men, it's a legitimate response to a very really, very serious condition.
Agreed. And I believe both sexes are equally vain. We are just seeing people be honest about it when equiped with an anon account on a Internet forum.

Anyone who thinks you aren't balding is mentally retarded.

It has nothing to do with vanity. If a bird shat all over your suit, in your hair, your glasses, on and in your mouth, would you turn up to work like that and pretend everything is fine because you're not "vain"? Balding objectively looks like sh*t, if you wouldn't turn up to work with bird sh*t on your head, then understandably you wouldn't want to turn up without hair either.

It goes in the section of – Hey, you're not balding.
I really would be thankful if that's the case.

Scary, but if that's the case, I'll do what I can to delay it.

You need finasteride. Nizoral 2% a few times a week as an adjunct treatment too.

Thanks for the replies guys. It runs in the family male pattern baldness so it has always been one of my worst fears. I mean, it'll just completely change my look and i don't know, it definitely takes a hit on confidence. Idk call me vain, but it does suck if this is happening I'm just 22 , sigh

I see, thanks man , I'll try that out. And I'll go see a specialist ASAP.
I've heard about hairloss medications having side effects like sexual dysfunction and stuff . That's worse. Can you tell me about that?

Roughly a 2-5% chance of sexual dysfunction (libido, erection issues) and 1/1000 that they'll be permanent once you drop it in the case that you get them. An 85% chance of long term maintenance of your current hairsituation and likely some small improvement initially also.

On the other hand if you don't try finasteride there's a 100% you will go bald and for most with aggressive hairloss that will happen from baseline to melon head within 5-10 years. Personally I've used 0.25mg for over a year and had no issues, and its maintained and improved my hair from baseline.

I see. The odds say I give it a try.
I've been to a dermatologist about this around 4 months ago. He said it was fine, and since then no major changes to hairline. But there's no harm in getting a second opinion i guess. I'll go tomorrow and see what this other Doctor says.
