This may not be worth much but I just thought Id share something that has really seemed to get me back to normal. I'm 24. I took finasteride for about 2 months..first .5mg then dropped to .25 mg when i had sides..sides got better..then went back to where they were so I quit. I had weak erections, trouble getting erections and maintaining them when i did, ball ache, shooting pains in my dick, no morning erections no random erections, low ejaculate volume and watery consistency.
After I quit finasteride (i've been off for about 4 months) my ejaculations, morning erections and ability to get and maintain an erection went back to normal in a couple of weeks, but I felt like my libido and general desire to have sex was still suppressed. I would only feel like having sex maybe once every 3 or 4 days, and even when I would feel like it it wouldnt be like "OMG I GOTTA HAVE IT". I never really had days where i was SUPER horny. This sucked because I'm with a girl who wants to f*** all the time. Sometimes I'd try to have sex with her, thinking I would get into it..and i just couldnt..I wouldnt even be able to really hold a decent erection because I just didnt feel horny. I also felt like I had lost some girth in my erection ever since I had shooting pains in my dick (which lasted a week maybe more off an on). My dick felt thinner in my hand for sure. I'm no hypochondriac...in fact...you couldnt get me to a doctor unless I was like in cardiac arrest..so i dont believe these things were in my head.
Anyway I stayed like this and it sucked but I felt lucky that I could still have sex pretty normally (when I actually felt like it) and that I didnt have permanent ED or anything like some guys.
About 2 months after I quit finasteride my GF got me into trying the P90X "Yoga X" DVD which is a great Yoga workout. She also got me into eating more organically and just better in general. So I started getting pretty into Yoga, specifically Ashtanga yoga and Bikram yoga and I really started loving it because it just made me feel better all around. Then about a month ago I started running on the nights I didnt do yoga. I run about 20-30 minutes on the nights I dont do yoga, and I mean i REALLY run..like with enough intensity to where I'm like near delirious when i finish . After incorporating serious running for a couple weeks I noticed my sex drive began to feel normal again..began getting horny randomly again...began wanting to have sex daily again etc. Best part of all I noticed the girth had returned to my erections.
I've heard before that things like yoga and regular strenuous cardio (both of which involve deep breathing) can help restore and maintain proper hormone balance and I really believe it did it for me. There is a definite difference.
I can say now that I believe I am 100% back to normal sexually (4 months after quitting finasteride) and I really believe its been the yoga and running (specifically the running) thats done it for me. Of course the improved diet probably supported this as well.
I know its no magic bullet but I would encourage anyone whos been having libido problems to really try getting on a serious stretching and running program..try it for a couple months and see what happens. If nothing else it'll put you in better shape
Just my two cents and I guess if it helps anyone at all then it was worth the book I just typed lol Id be interested to hear if anyone else has positive experiences with yoga or running
