Hi,
I just joined the forums today. I began Avodart .5/mg a few days ago.
Here is my website:

If you get bored, please let me know what you think about my website and my current regime. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, and good luck everyone.

good luck

im on it aswell

on the first 10-15 days, I'd recommend going on 1.5mg of dutasteride, for it to pile up in the system, and to get 2.5 months of it into ur system. then go on 0.5 dutasteride/daily. I did that. I am hoping that dutasteride on its own will reverse 1-2 years worth of hairloss.

Upped Dosage

Since you began the higher dosage for the first 10-15 days, did you incur any side effects: impotence, stomache aches, gyn., headaches? I'm just worried that the side effects would take a greater toll on my body using 1.5/mg per day.

Hi, i also was recommended to take a higher dosage to start me off, 0.5 in the morning and 0.5 in the evening for 2 weeks. But i did suffer side effects. I had spots pop up on my neck, face, nose and from bouts of shall we say, morning excitment to total loss of morning glory! I also had a really strange attack of breathlessness in my sleep, very concerning, and im 36yrs and never, ever, experienced anything like it. But that happened one night, never again.Spots have eased/ceased, down theres abit more up and down and mostly back to normal! Im now on, say, 8wks, 0.5 dutasteride a day, some green tea, slight emu oil, tea tree shampoo!

I've been losing my hair for about 1.5 years. It used to be thick and strong hair, then suddenly the texture became thin. That's when I went on propecia and I've been using it for about 10.5 mos.

As of now, I'm about a Norwood 2-2.5 (I'm not very certain, unless a doctor were to tell me). I have slight diffuse thinning on top and the crown.

The reason I inquire about the side effects is because during the treatment of propecia, I've had a high and low libido rollercoaster the entire time. It's definitely much different than it was prior to treatment, and I doubt that is from growing older, from 19-20.

What I can tell you is this:

So far I've been on Avodart for almost a week. (This is my fifth day to be exact.) I've noticed a huge increase in the frequency of urination. Everytime I feel the urge to go, I can't hold it. It's like I'm a woman in the sense that I have to go pee every 30 minutes, lol.

Also, I know this is a bad sign, but I've had a slight tenderness in my pecks. I hope that doesn't develop into gyn. or something, in which case I would hate to discontinue treatment. Is there a pill or other remedy by which I can prevent gyn. from developing? Working out?

In addition, are you aware of any herbal suppliments that could help raise my libido should it lower on Dutasteride?

I'm sorry about all the questions; it's just that beginning this treatment has left me just a bit concerned. After all, I'm pretty much self-medicating here.

Thanks again,
Andy

I'm not sure why you are on dutasteride. I've looked at your site, and all the pics, and you have VERY thick norwood 1.5. Are you looking for more regrowth or something or did you notice propecia losing effectiveness? I can't imagine jumping on that with a head of hair like yours. dutasteride is some serious stuff.

I have the same exact problem.
I started losing hair rapidly for the past 1.5 years all over, and now i am diffuse all over norwood 5 area :(
I am also 20 years old, nearly 21. This hairloss problem is a big one for me.
I began dutasteride coz i wanna regrow all the hairs that I have lost over the past 1.5 years. I dont think minoxidil is that necesary, coz the hair I want to regrow are those that have been lost over the past 1.5 years. I hope dutasteride will give me good frontal regrowth along the hairline, and bring my hairline down by 1cm (I lost 1cm hairline over the past 9 months :( ). I hope this isn't asking for too much, because those that have lost their frontal hairline may find it harder to regrow because they have lost it longer time ago than I have.
Anyways, good luck Aplunk with dutasteride.

It's just that the camera that I have isn't that great. I really have a lot of diffuse thinning and my scalp is visible under almost any light. I hope that Dutasteride can at least reverse this effect. I would ultimately like to grow my hair a little bit longer and spike it like I used to do.

I'm using the actual dutasteride, labeled under the name of Avodart. I take .5mg/day. I had an online medical consultation for about $58 and received a 6 month prescription from http://www.medicalwellnesscenter.com

I highly recommend this service.
Then medicalwellnesscenter faxed my prescription to Community Drug Pharmacy, which was filled for relatively cheap.

In all, I paid for a 3-month supply of actual Avodart for a little over $300, with 1 refill.

I hope this helps.

That is VERY expensive my friend. Next time I recommend http://www.mastersmarketing.com. No consultation fee, REAL GSK Avodart for 59.99 (30 pills).

Downside is that they charge $15 shipping, BUT if you order a 3 month supply it comes to $195. Compare that to $300 from MWC.

Well,
it's been about 1 month on my Avodart, and I might be starting to shed. From what started as a complete cessation of shedding, I am now starting to see a few hairs on my pillow, my hands, my keyboard, whatever. I just took some clippers and cut my hair shorter. I just hope that this shed doesn't last too long.

Hey mate, I'm with ' cook'n'milkies ', I know you worry its all going to outta control when you notice yourself going bald- and you want to get on with treatment straight away because everyone tells you delaying it - will make it harder to grow hair back etc etc, so you for an intensive treatment (like yours including dutasteride!) but, looking at your site (even with a poor camera) - careful whatyou put into yourself - there's heaps and heaps of guys out there who would kill for your head of hair........

Thanks blueinca,
I understand that Dutasteride may not be the healthiest medication for a youth, but I've succumbed to a number of psychological problems that have resulted from hairloss. Even though I may be taking years off my life, I feel free knowing that I have a thatch of hair on my head now.

I really appreciate your input, and if I begin noticing any detrimental side effects, I'll certainly get off the drug.

Thanks again, blueinca,
and goodluck.

i have a similar situation as you aplunk. Im turing 22 in two months. male pattern baldness has really messed with me, amongst other things. ive been losing hair since i was 17! currently im thinning in norwood 4-5 pattern i guess. my temples are gettin screwed and crown is going too. from october to december 05 i went thru a huge shed, the worst ever. it rreallyhad a devasting cosmetic effect. i was using ozbrew and 1.25 mg proscar at the time and just quit everyhting cold turkey. Shedding stoppd about a week later and has been decent for a month and a few weeks. but i want some of that lost hair back, so i might get on dutasteride. Have you tried any generics? the real deal may bee too much money...?
