Justin's Story...

I just picked up a 3 pack of rogaine foam, as well as a bottle of Nizoral from my local Walgreens. My three month order of Finasteride should be here soon. I have a couple questions...Oh, and so everyone knows, I am 24, just noticing the early stages of male pattern baldness and looking to tackle it early and maintain/regrow! Other important info regarding myself...I exercise 3 to 4 times a week, I eat a balanced diet, and use USANA vitamin supplements. In addition to USANA I take a fiber tablet and a calcium tablet daily as well as 3 to 4 protein shakes a week. Not sure if stress plays a factor, but on a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being none and 10 being a lot I am probably, honestly, a 6.

Im going to be keeping my hair short while Im monitoring my progress.

1.) Should I wait to start rogaine and nizoral till I get the Finasteride?

2.) Nizoral (a-d Ketoconazole Shampoo 1%) is this the correct form of Nizoral product?

3.) I'll be using the Nizoral shampoo 2 to 3 times a week probably, what alternative shampoo should I mix in on the off days? Something chemical free...higher end stuff...suggestions?

4.) Besides the big three any other suggestions as far as things I can do for health/scalp?

Thanks.

Your still at the very early stage, foam will most likely help.

Your hair still looks quite healthy and looks like you'll get back every bit of hair in no time. :hairy:

Hi there... your situation looks quite promising - you should be able to grow back a noticeable amount of hair. It's good that you are starting your treatment in the early stages of your MBP...

Might I ask what USANA supplements are? I have been advised that any vitamin / chemical supplements that increase the body's production of testosterone may actually accelerate the hair loss as well. Sucks to hear it, I know - that's why I no longer take certain supplements with my exercise regime... just in case.

1. Don't bother waiting 'til you have all the ingredients... if you're gonna take it seriously and stick to it, it's best you get on each one as soon as possible.

2. (sorry, cannot comment on this)

3. Ask someone at your local chemist (if you're in America you may call it a Drug Store!) for their advice. There are many different products available for different hair types - just explain your situation and I'm sure they'll be able to help. Otherwise, maybe consult a doctor or specialist.

4. Stick to your routine as best as possible. There'll always be those times when you go out for a night or something and are unable to apply your foam etc. Just pick it up the next day and keep going. I'm not gonna suggest any of the unproven methods, but if you want to do more, read up on it - there are plenty of different supplements, solutions and products (some people swear by) that you can try.

Lately I have been trying new supplements and processes. I have been doing the same routine for nearly 10 months, so I feel confident enough to trial other methods. A good pointer is to ADD things to your routine... not REPLACE things.

Another good idea is to look at other people's schedules and compare and contrast. Read through the success stories and get ideas... That's one of the best ways to learn about combatting hair loss.

Anyway, hope this helps a little

What would be a good alternate shampoo to use when not using the nizoral. I want to keep my scalp as clean, and itch/dandruff free as possible why going through this process.

I use LoReal XY thickening shampoo, it makes the hair appear thicker.

From my own experience, getting on treatment is a good release for your emotional stress as well.

Once I started on finasteride minoxidil and nizoral, I don't stress as much. Konowing I am doing whatever it takes to combat male pattern baldness is a good relief for me. I let God to decide the rest.

GL man!
