Hi. I came across this forum because I was searching for answers for my thinning hair. I have only tried one product and that was restoration hair (natural product). Gave it up so I'm back to find something that get real results.

For women, 200mg of Spironolactone & 2% minoxidil is the best conventional treatment available.

How do you get the two products you are suggesting? Do you need a prescription and thanks for replying.

If you live in the USA then minoxidil (Rogaine) is over-the-counter. Spironolactone is a prescription drug that is best obtained through your doctor... Though you can buy such a medication online. I buy mine from http://www.inhousepharmacy.com.

Sorry.

Spironolactone is a tablet, available in various dosages. I'd go see a dermatologist to determine the correct dose for yourself.

As for minoxidil, it's the ingredient in Rogaine, which I'm sure you're familiar with. They have 2% and 5% minoxidil on the market and I think they have a Rogaine for women as well.

Female hair loss is kinda complicated so I'd just go see a derm and tell them about these two meds and see what they think.

Good luck.

I think Rogaine for women may be exactly the same as 2% Rogaine. I read the ingredients for Equate Women's minoxidil and it was the same as Rogaine 2%.

btw, i think you were given good advice here. spironolactone and minoxidil 2% do sound like they'd be the best treatment options for women.

Topical phenytoin is another treatment option.

Finally Kathay, if you're rich, holla at a playa ;)
