Keeping it simple: My Rogaine Success (2.5 Years Later)

Background: I felt the need to amend this entry to clarify a few things. I am not "advertising" for Rogaine or any other product. I am a pre-service teacher in Connecticut who pays for Grad school through tutoring and substitute teaching. If I were to use "Photoshop" or "hair dye," I wouldn't waste my time on here. I'm here to share my stories and learn from others on what works best from them. The men in my family have a history of male-patterned baldness. Two and a half years ago, I did my best to combat it by trying Rogaine and it's worked well for me. Like all of you, I have target areas I want to improve.

It's been 2.5 years since I first starting using Rogaine. The results I've had improved my self-esteem and appearance far beyond my expectations! I've stuck to a regimen of solely Rogaine 5% liquid and Tea Tree Thickening Shampoo because these products were all I needed to maintain a consistent growth.

I find it oddly exciting to have more hair than I did as a senior in high school! (I'm 24 now). I'm a recent college graduate and I've found that my appearance now has raised my confidence when it comes to job interviews. For a previous thread on my progress, click here.

Target Areas: In terms of areas I need to improve, I would like to grow more hair in the front so I could spike it. My hair loss occurred significantly in the front and while I can wear my hair to the side or with bangs just fine, I cannot spike my hair or comb it back without it looking thin.

Not alopecia, mere thinning hair due dietary deficiencies which reflect incorrect diet such as too much alcohol, inadequate raw food intake and too much processed food. Dyes could make thinned hair look denser as could photo-shop.
What is this blatant advert for a product that does not work doing here? This should be removed.

I posted in the success stories thread, NOT the Alopecia thread. Male patterned baldness runs in my family and affects most of the males in my family. Rogaine is an FDA approved product that plenty of people on this website are using. Further, I've posted plenty of pictures of my progress in previous threads, none of which (current or past) reflect Photoshop or hair dyes. I've also posted more information about my family history with baldness.

In terms of my diet, I was not a heavy consumer of raw or processed food. These factors may contribute to male patterned baldness, but male patterned baldness can still occur whether or not one consumes raw or processed food.

Please before you accuse, have some background knowledge or do some basic research. There are still aspects that I would like to improve on. The front of my hair is a little thin if I try to spike it (see picture below). Hopefully my regimen will be able to improve this over time too. I come here to share my story and hear from others, not to advertise.

Your input and knowledge on natural alternatives is welcome here, but please respect those who choose to go the medical route too. To state that Rogaine does not work is incorrect. Over 15 years of proof in tens of thousands of men that it works. You may enjoy our "Alternative Treatments" section on the forums. You and Jacob could probably chat up a storm in there with ideas on possible natural methods.

Looks like minoxidil has indeed worked for you. That being said, I think your pre-minoxidil haircut suits you very well. Consider yourself fortunate to be one of the few who may actually look better with shorter hair...

Interesting opinion haha. I actually had a similar haircut summer of 2012. I usually keep my hair shorter during the spring and summer. I'll be sure to post a pic with a similar haircut.

Another example that minoxidil not only works, but trumps finasteride and dutasteride on actual results. Keep with it dude and don't listen to all the doomsday finasteride pushers as their photo evidence is almost non-existant.

No one here is pushing finasteride at all ..... ?? Every knows minoxidil will give much better re-growth quiet quickly, the difference with finasteride is that it stops the balding process and/or slows it down in most men and over time their hair gets better.

As long as your hairloss isn't aggressive minoxidil can work for years and not the reported 1-2 years.

EDIT: Going through your post history it seems you are anti-finasteride, now I understand your ranting and raving .....
