Let’s start documenting our journey & be honest when we need to change

We have so many men talking about losing their hair. They are on the typical meds, topical that the scientists/ doctors recommended, but ALAS. they keep losing the battle. Then they try the latest chemical from China & regrettably same story. And on & on it goes.
So everybody is different, but for people who read these forums, & I know we will never agree on anything let’s start at the basics.
If we generally compare hair density & growth between men & women we can safely say women’s hair is growing thicker, faster, longer than men’s. I know some nerd will disagree, but I think that’s the consensus. So we have to ask ourselves why? Can we learn anything.
We know men have 9 times testosterone of women. Woman have 9 times estrogen of men. Does this account for the disparity of hair?
I’ll leave that subject for now. before DHT receptors come up…Or gyno comes up & move on to a protocol.
I think for starters, when you choose the path of resistance or trying to grow/regrow your hair, it is a good idea to start documenting. For me, at times I thought I was winning & other times losing, but without proof who really knows. So I started taking IPhone photos after every shower when I would wash my hair. I would comb my hair in the most unflattering way in the harshest LED light & with the added harshness of the IPhone camera. I would take from same angles, same lighting, same app. I quickly realized how the camera distorts the image I see in my mirror. It makes it even worse than what I see by the naked eye, but that’s cool, as long as there is consistency. By the same token I can see how photos can be manipulated to look much better. So it was a wake up call. That’s the first thing I would recommend taking honest, consistent photos for yourself. There’s a time stamp so no confusion.
Now for a protocol. I don’t think there is any doubt, any I know some nerd going to disagree, that the DHT receptors are the main culprit in male pattern baldness. If we could mute, stifle them our hair would start to bloom.
So if you are addressing the DHT & your hair is not responding… you ain’t doing enough. Does that mean double the dose? No, not necessarily, but you have to figure out what you’re not doing enough. You see testosterone levels are 24 hours a day. Your follicle getting bombarded 24/7… but you took your pill once a day or topical once a day & it’s doing nothing. Well your protocol is doing something, but it needs help. I’ll leave it there for now so we can move on. The point is if you take the typical DHT blockers & you don’t like the results you’re not wrong, but it’s not enough.
So I don’t have the simple answer, but I hope taking photos & monitoring progress & realizing what you’re doing ain’t working will lead to more success.
