Since it's been 20 years since it first came out, I'm interested to hear some reports from long-term (10+ years) users of Finasteride (and Dutasteride).

At what Norwood stage were you when you started, and where are you at now?
How much do/did you take every day, and has it eventually stopped being effective?
If yes, when did it stop working, did you switch to Dutasteride, and is that still effective for you today?
What side effects, if any, did you experience with both finasteride and dutasteride, and how long after starting it did you experience them?

Would you say Finasteride/Dutasteride have “cured“ your male pattern baldness?

If you have them, post then-and-now pictures and tell us your respective age

Lots of questions, I know, but as someone who's only taken it for about two years, I'm curious what the future will hold

wow look at this guys accounting

same with me Farrel.

For the first 3-4 years I thought finasteride was not working, but I just kept taking it because I had a stash at home and had already paid for it.

My hairline is the same as when I was 24 and I am nearly 32, my hair is probably thicker than at age 24.

I am also finding that taking .25mg is just as effective as taking 1.25mg. And I am not having any sides at all. I certainly feel much better about my hair now than even when I was 20.

I am on a pretty solid regimen, but I feel that finasteride is probably doing 90% of the work.

Pretty good for a guy, who had people comment on his receding hairline at age 18. These days, I am more likely to get people complimenting me on my hair telling me how thick it is.

Hello,

I was on finasteride for about 9 years I think. The first 8 years were amazing (I always had thick hair). The only time I had somewhat noticeable hair loss was right before starting finasteride, but even then it wasn't very noticeable unless you stood over me and looked at my scalp. finasteride maintained very well. 1 mg a day from pharmacy.

Barely any side effects. Still horny and such. Still had lots of muscle.

finasteride stopped working and my hair loss increased in its final year.

Started dutasteride around 5 months ago. Saw shedding the first 3.5 months. Shedding has stopped now and it seems it is maintaining well. Lowered my sex drive a little bit. It was very high the first few months, and now settled down and a bit lower than before I started (but not too bad).

I take .5 mg a day, but started with 1 mg the first month.

I'm still with a full head of hair.

Hope that helps!
