Long-term propecia side effects: real or psychosomatic?

Hey guys,

For a while I've toyed with the idea of giving propecia a proper trial. I tried it about a year ago, but only for a few days. I was feeling pretty groggy on it, but I guess it was more the thought that a) it was really expensive and b) I'd need to be on it forever, which made me stop.

Nowadays I don't believe in either of those problems. I know it's fairly easy to get it cheap. And I'm not planning on restoring hair forever, just for 4 or 5 years until I can get a transplant, hair multiplication, or a marriage.

But my problem is that I can't get the prospect of long-term side effects off my mind. I've been on propeciahelp.com, and some of the stories are downright frightening. I'd be happy to give finasteride a proper go, even at the risk of temporary sides, were it not for the risk of these effects. But as it is I'm just damn scared of the stuff!

So what do you guys think? Is it a real possibility you can permanently destroy your sex life with this stuff? Or is it all an exaggeration?

Hasn't it already been proven in various studies? Mew would know about this.

Really? I'm using propecia for 4 months and sometimes i'm scared for long term damage too.

But honestly, should I be scared?

I think you should be responsible and should have taken a complete full panel bloodtest prior to starting the drug. That way if anything happens you can isolate the problem. There is a rather large community that has SEVERE LONG LASTING (2+ years with no relief, even after cessation) Side effects. Permanent sexual dysfunction, brain fog, man titties. I'm pretty sure there's a few class action suits in the works, Merck is purposely withholding/supressing alot of sh*t. I'd be VERY mindfull of the drug, many would tell you to 'ride' through the side effects, i wouldn't be so sure if that's the best thing to do. In the end though, you know your body best, and if you feel like something's happening to you, you outta get off.

Five years on Propecia with no side effects to speak of. Just started minoxidil, however, and I'm getting killed with sides.
