Well, my son gave me some Saw Palmetto and Primerose oil gel caps to take. I took them for 4 months, but I don't think they worked. I use Nizoral shampoo once a week for my hair, but it is so dry, I cannot shampoo any more than that. I find time consuming to say the least, most of my time is spent trying to get my hair just right so I can go out the door. How about you? Any luck with any product?

Helen I just started working on my hair loss about a week or so ago....I didn't notice how much hair I had lost until I looked in the mirrow and basically just saw scalp. I have lost a good 50% of the hair on my scalp, maybe more but I don't want to freak myself out.

Right now I am washing my hair daily even though I don't like to because if the cause of my hair loss is Seb (which causes itchy, flaky scalp) or too much DHT which is a male hormone that somehow causes hair loss - it is very importnat to try to keep your scalp clean. I would suggest you wash your hair daily to avoid clogging up your pores which can also cause you to lose hair - I beleive from clogging you hair follicles. Just try to at least keep your scalp clean and put on a leave in conditioner at the ends of your hair.

Right now I have started eating more protein, taking multi Vitamins, taking 50mg of B Complex Vitamins and making sure that I am eating a well balanced diet. I also am adding Nizoral to my routine every 3 days...

Have you had any results from Nizoral and have you tried Rogaine???

I have a hard enough time to keep my hair looking normal without using something greasy like minoxidil. I spend too much time in the mirror so I don't know if I want to use something that is going to make it wet-looking and show more scalp. As far as Nizoral goes, I don't know if it has worked to tell you the truth. My son says my hair looks good, but he only sees me once in a while so he doesn't know what it is like to go through this everyday.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you in a while. Hope all is well. Tell me how the derm. appointment goes.

Hello,
too am unfortunetly suffering from hair loss (all throughout entire head)
after wasting a huge amount of time and stress going to loads of different dr. I finally found one that i am happy with her name is Dr. Scotniki Grant and she's located at avenue/st.clair area. I found that alot of other dr.'s people recommended were at least a years wait (and I know that none of us have the luxury of time.)
also, \

Hi everyone...
can you guys keep me posted on the female derm in the toronto area??? I'm here in Ottawa and well...if there is a health care professional that is particular in hair loss that would be great......my derm here is good but I have a feeling he is not too proactive in finding a cause....crap...I read this and its reassuring that I'm not alone in this .....yet its frustrating to know that this IS happening.....it sucks....what more can damage the self esteem??? Sorry....just had to vent for a minute....
