I have aggressive male pattern baldness my uncles and father went bald like nw5 at 23.
Right now I've been on finasteride for 2 monthes and my hair kept on receding and thinning.
I think finasteride won't be effective for me that much because I'm young and have aggresive male pattern baldness.
So what's the best way to switch to dutasteride? I'm just thinking about starting the 3rd month with dutasteride 0.5mg daily and that's it..
I'm just afraid about losing hair from switching treatments that's my concern
So what's the best way to switch from finasteride to dutasteride?
And am I gonna lose my finasteride gains from switching to dutasteride?

2 months is nothing! Your young and freaking out. I had better success with dutasteride. STICK WITH BRAND ONLY! it can take as long as 24 months to work

Hi im thinking of switching to dutasteride aswell. Have a few queries
What do you mean with brand only? Do you mean i should buy avodart instead of generic dutasteride?

Also is it bad if i take both finasteride and dutasteride? Im worried if i stop finasteride my body will react badly from not having it but at the same time i dont want finasteride to stop the effectivness of dutasteride.
Whats the best way of proceeding?

Brand meaning not generic. I've taken dutasteride and finasteride together in the past. I actually took 5mg proscar (finasteride) and .5 mg avodart with excellent results .

How are you taking both together? Like you take 5mg proscar for a day then next day you take .5mg avodart?
Also am I gonna be losing hair from switching to dutasteride like starting the treatment from the begging or not?
It's been 2 months on finasteride and they both work with the same mechanism so is it gonna be counted like the 3rd month for me?
or is it gonna be like the 1st month for me on the treatment?
please can you answer my questions!

Why do you advise against taking generic?
(Im taking generic finasteride now)
I dont want to take both as i dont see the point if its not neccesary, if its an easy transition then il drop fina but i dont my hair follicles to be attacked by dht once i drop it. (Thats what happened when i took a two day break in the beggining)

There's no reason to take brand name imo, the only difference if any is fillers, i take generic dutasteride. As for switching, it doesn't take that long for dutasteride to reach finasteride DHT supression levels then overtake it when using once a day.

In order to get a stamp of approval from the FDA, a generic medication must be "bioequivalent" to its brand-name counterpart. This means that chemically the two must be pretty much the same, although makers are allowed 20% variation in the active ingredient from that original formula
